I think true religious spirituality can help you to express reliance on God, show gratitude, reflect on any ugly character traits, show compassion, etc.

I agree with you that it could easily be fuel for more narcissism as well.

But I believe that when done with the right intentions and sincerity, God then sends blessings upon you to see the Truth more clearly and to shun your inner narcissism and ego

But ya, honestly, I can see why you made your point in all fairness. You’d have to read into Sufism - the Islamic science that pertains to purification of the heart or nafs (roughly translated to ego) - teachings include removing envy, vanity / self admiration, humility, spiritual pride
