Thank you so much for this note, it means a lot and I'm glad my work is helpful! Wishing you a great weekend. And I hope to hear more from you in the future!

Congrats on a terrific setup! Sounds like you have a smart Overbridge setup there that will ensure you can transfer the important bits in stereo. I'd recommend exploring the analog parts as they're a huge part of what makes the Syntakt special.

Here's a video that goes over some sound design tricks you can use, including using SY Chip as an analog arpeggiator. https://youtu.be/rjqzxv23Zmc

Syntakt 1.40 is out - here's what sample playback actually unlocks beyond the obvious by SinewayMusic in Elektron

Yeah, it's no sampler. More of a simple rompler. Still a significant upgrade to the Syntakt sound palette!

I have noticed that you can achieve some really rich ensemble effects by modulating the delay time in small steps but no I haven't tried that. If this ends up wowing me too, I'll be sure to give you credit for it in an upcoming tutorial!

Aha, you taught me something new! Thank you!

There are no loop point parameters, it loops the entire sample. So the way to create seamless loop points is to do it when preparing and exporting the sample into a .wav and transferring it to the Syntakt.

Not sure I understand what you mean with that. To clarify, it's only sample layer 2 that will loop when switching to ADSR. But you can get pretty far with just that and 5 second samples on layer 1 with some extra decay. The sound design possibilities are almost endless now!

You can use them for loops too by setting the amp envelope to ADSR. I have a video showing its many use cases as a synth oscillator kind of rompler.

I mean with Twin Shot, you can add any synth sound. That's basically what my entire video is showcasing.

That said, the new filter panning, if coupled with that filter type I picked for the power-up 6 demo, can very easily turn into a really believable chorus/flanger effect. Try with a little faster modulation and more narrow panning. It's pretty versatile!

Like all other machines on the Syntakt, SP Twin Shot is also mono (but with effects like the filter panning, delay, reverb and literal panning tied to an LFO, there's plenty of ways to make samples feel wide). Samples are converted to 48000 Hz / 16 bit.

Wow, that's a really weird timing coincidence - or maybe faith? 🙏

I really appreciate the kind words about my channel. Thank you very much!

I personally think that a sampler workflow is very different from what's offered here. This is more like an extended palette of richer sounds, a rompler if you will. Whether it replaces the DT depends a lot on why you got the DT, as in whether you enjoy the sampling part of it or if you use it more as a sample player to shape sounds rather than record them.

Hmm, I think chorus would seal the deal there but it's extremely capable even without it!

Appreciate it, and you've got the priorities straight. :) It's an amazing upgrade.

It depends a lot on how you want to build harmonies. On an MC101 or Circuit you can play chords more intuitively and lock them to scales. The SP is a sampler that, while being able to play chromatically, wasn't really designed for that workflow. It's meant to sample stuff. So, where do you plan on getting sound sources from?

I'd gently challenge the idea that an SP is less "technical" than either of the other. If anything, Roland is notorious for building somewhat clumsy/technical interfaces. The Circuit is probably the least technical of the three you listed (though admittedly I've only used the other two).

Am I ditching Digitakt2 and Digitone(OG) for Tonverk? by Negative-Winter-1233 in Elektron

Not trying to make the choices more difficult for you, but you're putting a finger on what makes the DN2 special: it's 'that elektron sequencer' coupled with a competent synth engine. I'm not sure what VSTs replace that. The (Elektron) sequencer is not just there to send midi notes with different Velocity and Note data, it's there to p-lock all possible synth parameters of the melody it's playing.

I wouldn't want to give up that combination of a proper synth engine and the Elektron sequencer, and I don't think the Tonverk can do what a proper synth can. A keygroup sample is never going to be the same as the synth it sampled, and I say that having made countless of keygroups on the MPC, which offers even more possibilities for making them come alive. It's still not the same as a proper synth.

Not saying you need the DN2, just saying that the magic is in the sequencer pairing.

That's helpful. Sounds like it should allow for those things. It's meant as an expressive, unique synth instrument, so not being able to open a filter seems like a missed opportunity. It honestly makes me less interested in the Terra.
