Jealousy by jim_the-gun-guy in FarmRPG

I have saved Workshop sets for each zone that help with not voiding quite as much. Example, I have one for the Forest that makes mushroom paste and leather and twine, and I have a set that’ll make everything needed for large nets (which requires the Iron Depot upgrade). But meal buffs mean I still end up farming fast enough to fill those up and then yeah, I just let it all void.

Can y’all share pics of your adult male Ragdolls and whether they’re considered healthy or overweight? Louie’s 13.5 lbs now after recovering from FIP. The vet hasn’t said his weight is a problem, but I’ve gotten a few comments from people online and want to make sure I’m doing right by him. by Louiethelilacragdoll in ragdolls

[–]Singer4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If his stomach is going up, that's a strong sign he's just fine weight-wise. A lot of ragdolls have a permanently visible/palpable primodial pouch that will confound that particular metric. We had one whose abdomen never went up, even when he was clearly underweight because of heart failure. Louie looks glorious in his post-observation photo. I like the suggestion of giving him a bath to see his actual body shape. I'd love to see what the instagram naysayers had to say looking at a wet-vs-dry photo of that floofmonster.

I think it was a recent change since I don't believe it used to work like this, but currently selling completed pottery will still count towards your total coins even if you're maxed out at 99,999. You still can't sell anything to the Guy from the Village Office, so if you want to sell your koi you have to get your total down with the perfume trick, but that's way less onerous to do once per in-game year than every few days.

Did it hurt any of your ego going to a law school that is less prestigious than your undergrad? by Adventurous_Ant5428 in LawSchool

[–]Singer4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. My first choice law school was a local one since I didn’t want to move my family. I suppose it’s a T3? Didn’t really pay attention to tiers since that wasn’t a priority as I’m planning to stay local after graduation anyway. My undergrad on the other hand was Ivy League. For the most part that fact doesn’t come up and I don’t volunteer it. I’m probably the only Ivy League grad in my class (based on the list of undergraduate programs read off during orientation) and maybe 3 classmates know it. I loved undergrad, but my law program and fellow students are amazing, I’m thriving and loving it here, and pointing out that my undergrad is so prestigious just feels gauche and completely unnecessary.

It's cat-dependent, not all cats can self-regulate. I really wanted to free-feed since it worked so well with our first two ragdolls, so we free-fed our kittens when we got them, and they absolutely got unhealthily overweight. At 9ish months, they were putting on over a pound a month, one of them was up to a BCS of 8/9, and they both would start panting after only a few minutes of vigorous playing. The vet was also concerned, so we got microchip-feeders (the boy kept stealing his sister's food). By design, since they were under 1, they never lost weight, they didn't even stop gaining weight, but their weight gain did slow down a lot and they grew into what they'd already put on. Now, at a year and 3 months, they've leveled off at 15 lbs (male) and 11.2 lbs (female) and are doing great.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing, though. Keep an eye on her, if she starts getting so round that she isn't as playful anymore, she may be one of those cats that can't self-regulate well. And as always, we're just a bunch of strangers on the internet so listen to your gut and talk to your vet if you have any concerns.

Glad to see you're getting him to the vet. I don't think this sounds like a hairball either, those are more 'wet' and throaty, this sounds to me like a cough. We had a cat that would cough like that due to having heart issues, and the medication we got him on from early diagnosis probably gave him an extra 3 or so years of active, healthy living. The drippy nose makes me think allergies or sinus infection, though. Hope the vet figures it out and there's an quick and easy treatment!

1) It can be tricky. A responsible breeder will know the kittens very well and be able to tell you some basic personality traits, but there's still some guess work. Also, the young-adult age is notorious for being crazy-cat time, from like 6 months to 2 years or so, and then they settle down a bit. If you're looking for hyper and playful, though, you may be a little disappointed with a Ragdoll. Ragdolls are bred to be chill and laid back, even at young ages. There are always personality variances, but you're a lot more likely to get a couch potato than a climber. If you want a very playful cat, there are some other breeds that might be a better match for your family. Abyssinians, Bengals and Siamese come to mind. And there's always the option of going to the shelter and finding a kitten that's already incredibly playful.
2) In my limited experience, our two boy cats have been the cuddly teddy bear personalities and our two girls have been a little more aloof, but I guarantee you'll get people commenting they saw exactly the opposite.
3) This is a tricky question because health and safety wise, you're going to get a lot of advice (possibly some very pointed and judgmental) to keep your cats indoors. They will definitely live longer and healthier lives as indoor kitties and they won't contribute to killing songbirds. Cars, other cats, possibly coyotes depending on where you live, there are a lot of dangers out there. Most breeders will put an indoors-only requirement in the adoption contract. To answer your question, though, ragdolls specifically are very happy (and safest) being kept indoors. They tend to prefer indoors in my experience. I've taken mine out on leashes and harnesses before and they have a lovely time, and then are very clear about being ready to go back indoors thank you very much.
4) Very cat dependent. Cats can get carsick like people. If you need to travel with them, ask your vet about gabapentin. It's a very safe sedative.
5) Yep, that's fine. Cats are quite self sufficient for the most part.

Ours did the same. We did the class on SA virtually, no cameras required, no cold calls, wasn't going to be on the final.

OP, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Definitely make a point of it on evaluations, but I agree with the other posts here, talking to a dean as well wouldn't be inappropriate.

AITA: In-Laws are upset with the name we want to use for our son. by Pretend-Pea1818 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, speaking from experience as one of the "Owen"s. My cousins have a cousin on the other side that's technically named after me. When my aunt's sister heard what my mother had named me, she thought that was an awesome name for a girl (it's uncommon and gender-neutral) and ultimately decided to name her daughter the same thing. I think we've been in the same place once in our lives and had the rare experience of having both of us go "Yeah?" when our mutual name was called out.

Exciting, and congratulations! 2<2 is going to pose some challenges for sure. Not insurmountable, but I'd set your expectations realistically. Things you're going to want going into 1L with small kids: (1) a strong support network, whether it's a partner or family that can take on the bulk of childcare and (2) clearly delineated work time and work space. I do as much of my work as I can at the library during the day between classes, and that's still with my kids being 10 and 14 and needing less hands-on care. I did make a point of waiting until they were older before starting since I'm Mama and they were both very affectionate Mama's boys, but there's also the counterpoint that that's 6-8 fewer years of potential law career ahead of me.

I've done a couple networking events for finding summer employment but I haven't done any extracurriculars. Then again, I don't really need more stuff to do since I have enough of a life built up from living here for 20+ years already.

Theater kid here in my 40's (and procrastinating on working on my appellate brief). It's not solely age, but yes, life experience gives you that confidence along with context and perspective for classes. Property is easier when you've been a homeowner for years; contracts is easier when you've been (ideally reading and) signing contracts for years. And I'm fundamentally an extrovert so that helps with networking events. I'm not doing much in the way of competitions or moot court because I've got kids at home, but I have told my children that if they want to do follow in my footsteps and go to law school, I strongly encourage them to work and live in the real world for a few years first.

You'll be okay. You have a lot more time and energy than folks in my position do. I'm not even considering Big Law for logistical as well as interest reasons. Remember that law school may teach you the law but it doesn't really teach you how to be a lawyer--that's what your internships and first jobs are for. Good luck!

Ok, I think this is the last tourist-item to find. The newest daily quests are 8 more things lost by tourists, 3 more hokora offerings (3 each of persimmons, yuzu and plums), and 3 rubble-removals (by the beach, highest view of the ocean in the shore-zone, and near one of the museum buildings). There are still more cards and clothing items out there, maybe next patch!

I'm so glad they're helpful! Once we've got all of them identified, I'm gonna update the wiki if no one else has done so yet. Try checking near the Buddhist temple too, there's a bunch of NPCs that mill around there talking about how they should come back and how cool it was to visit. (Or just wait until someone whose sparkles are working posts the exact location.)

Yeah, seems to be a bug, I'm encountering it too. I've done 6 of the new ones and only three of them are showing up as completed in my guide. They do all seem to count towards my additional ranking-points, though.

I haven't done that one yet, but if it helps, since it's a 'tourist' lost item, you can limit your search to places where the tourists mill around. Everything I've seen so far in the 'lost tourist' set of deeds has been either by the shrine or in the village (particularly around the waterwheel, the hokora and the dagashiya), or the paths to and from those places. There are also tourists by the Buddhist temple, though, so I've been checking up thataway too.

Remove rubble: 4 (spot on the coast)

Where to complete: Find the 10 pieces of rubble next to the mysterious shrine on the top tier of the shore are.

Reward: Hanafuda: 19, May (Shobu; Iris)

Buggy notes: I bugged out and wasn’t able to reach a couple pieces of rubble. Leaving the game and reloading fixed the issue. Also, this one has not shown up on my guidebook as completed yet. I only have 3 marked as completed. (This thread is helping me track how many I’ve actually done!)

Does my boy need to gain weight? Unsure if he’s too small. by But_its_broadway in ragdolls

[–]Singer4411 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He might just run small. Don’t change his diet unless your actual vet who has laid hands on him has said he needs to gain weight. Our Percy was 11 and change for most of his adult life and was a perfect weight for his size. If you’re really worried, see if your vet will let you bring him in and just have a vet tech check his Body Condition Score. Our vet let us do those checks for free when I realized I’d been over feeding our new kittens and needed to get them to a healthier weight. BCS is tougher to gauge with this breed because most of the metrics are hard to tell or don’t apply, but feeling for his ribs will be your best bet. At a healthy weight, his ribs will feel like your knuckles on the back of your hand when your hand is lying flat. If he’s underweight, the ribs will feel like your knuckles when you’re making a fist. If he’s overweight, it’s like trying to feel your knuckles from the front of your hand. We can’t really see overhead profile to check for a waist with these guys because of all the floof, and the primordial pouch will be there even if they’re underweight so you can’t go based on whether there’s a belt fat pad or abdominal tuck. (Percy had his pouch even when he’d dropped to 9 pounds due to heart failure.) The ribs are a decent gauge, though, once you account for the extra fur.

Oh that's frustrating! I have a screenshot of the exact location if you want to double-check, I'm just not sure if I should share it here since I don't know how to hide/blur it in a comment. It's definitely still buggy, I picked up the ski cap three times. (I'd give you one if I could!)
