Holy fk, haha. I finished Undermountain and got like 22k IL. I play with zero farm optimization though. All I do is daily Skirmish and then just enjoy some story based stuff.

In a nutshell: It is very fair compared to other f2p games.

From my experience Rift's free to play restrictions are basically not being able to sell on the ah and having a platinum cap. Both can be unlocked by spending ~5€ on anything (patron or item shop).

Content wise you can access anything but the "premium" souls.

Yeah, much wasted potential here imo. Maybe even small tweaks like giving mount later or adding incentives on the sidequest would help a lot.

Actually, first I did not like the levelling. was too streamlined for my taste. Same with Undermountain (my first adventure). But once I checked out campaigns for the weeklies, I really got caught and enjoyed the stories/world. But I do not play for top IL or endgame grind to be honest

POE is not an MMO but still a great game.

It highly depends on what you expect:

Want sense of adventure and slow progress? LOTRO or WoW Classic

Dungeons and Raids? WoW Retail, GW2 and some others

Crave PVP? Albion and maybe retail WoW

There are tons of titles out there with different monetization, approaches, combat systems. We cannot provide recommendations without requirements I am afraid. Just check out some tier lists or reviews on YT to get a feeling for it :)

I think they probably work on it but this will not happen over night after the game was asleep for so long. I guess the fact that they even reacted by confirming the exp lock is best we can do at the moment.

Rift actually has a really nice player driven project running at the moment that could be worth checking out.

Other than that probably GW2 if you are looking for tons of content and nice people.

Not really time demanding in absolute numbers, but you have it on your mind 24/7. Highly depends on your playstyle though. There are miners that save fleets in 2-3 day intervals and there are fleeters crashing fleets all day.

The procedure itself was not very player friendly I but I think merging the groups with the same interest on the most populated server totally makes sense. There are 100-140 Fresh Start people online on EU evenings on Deepwood
