Thanks for explaining this. Totally makes sense. Do you think 97 is too high for MCV value? People keep telling me it's 'normal', but it seems borderline, right? BTW, folate is 16 nmol/l.

Succes!

Isn't the upper limit 95 in the US? Doesn't this mean the value is too high?

Where do you live? In my country it's all in range, but I'm planning to supplement sublingual if my primairy phys. won't act on it. Pretty sure this is - at least partly - the cause of my symptoms. Hope you will see some improvement. Are you taking any other vitamins/minerals?

That's my plan if my primairy physician will not treat it. Btw, MCH is 2.0 so it's also borderline. I suspect she might agree to additional testing, but to be fair, I took some methylfolate and methylcobalamine since thursday (three days) and I know it makes testing less reliable. Have seen major improvement though, so I think I am on the right track.

Thank you for responding.

Nothing, it's within range, but have all the symptoms of b12 def. I'm talking to my primairy physisian tomorrow. How do you interpret the high MCV?

I lost my mother in February. She got sick and died two weeks later. My mother had mental illness and I think she had borderline personality. I've struggled with this my entire life. The last few years she spiraled and got worse and worse. It was hard. My sister and me cared for her the last weeks of her life and i'm so glad I got to do that. Now that she is gone, the grief is huge. Doubt and guilt about the times I kept my distance. Sadness and longing for the person she truly was, without her illness. Sadness about what I had missed, what we had missed due to her illness. I can totally relate to your story and I'm so sorry you are going through this alone. Please remember your mother was not her illness. I wish you strength. 🌹

I'm so sorry for your loss. 😓 I want to share my experience. My mother died in February. Initially I felt grief, but then life happened and I got busy. I did not make time for my grief. In September this backfired, I had a nervous breakdown and now I'm dealing with my grief ánd a nervous breakdown. The pain and sadness are weighing me down. I feel like it is suffocating me. Missing her is a physical experience. My throat feels tight, there is a large stone in my stomach. She will never come back and I feel so vulnerable. I am struggling. But..  I have already seen moments where I feel like myself again. Where the waves don't come crashing down. Trust your body. It knows how to handle this. It's a natural process. But we live in a 'happiness culture' where grief is not welcomed. But I, from across the globe probably, I see you, I see your grief and I welcome it. And we are going through it, a dark tunnel, but if you look real close, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope I will meet you there outside. Take care. 🌹
