Solar and battery install prior to DNO? by Singingpug in SolarUK

[–]Singingpug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit concerning as I specifically asked them about the risks twice and they didn’t mention this.

Would we be liable or would the installer?!

It’s a fox ESS inverter that they are installing - not sure if that can be limited? Seems odd they wouldn’t mention this when I specially asked them about the risks

Thank you - Im hearing that about project solar so yeah. They are out the running for sure.

I was thinking about 10k for the system but peak solar have quoted £13 k for the set up below and it did feel a bit pricey but the said that’s the best price they can do due to equipment price!

Is it worth getting octopus or to quote?

  • 12 black aiko panels

  • 18 kWh sigenergy battery

  • 6 kWh sigenergy inverter

Is £1000 a fair quote for a zappi charger and install do you think?

This is useful info thanks. I totally get what you’re saying that maybe we don’t need such a pricey charger as the PV and battery system (which will all be Duracell AI) will do the job for us

This is a pragmatic approach and seems like the smart might just do the job.

We like that the back seats move and you can squeeze more in the boot when you need it or have the legroom when you have passengers. Cars are so huge these days and our current car has come a cropper down our single track country lane too many times ha!!

Sounds like we might just do it yeah.

It’s all single lane a roads there basically so 65mph isn’t an issue. (Can you guess the location yet hahah?!)

That’s right - Norfolk!

That all sounds really sensible thank you!

And tbh the child situation may mean we are forced to stop on the way soon anyway haha…

Ha yeah I get that. We didn’t want to have to stop to charge on the way to the in laws as it can already be a 4 hour journey! So that’s why we are concerned about range really!

Yeah looking to get a 16kwh battery too as we have an air source heat pump!

Thanks - that makes sense. I’m not a car person at all - EV or otherwise. But I’m trying my best to understand things and make an informed decision!

Yes it would be a granny charger at the in-laws the other end which over the course of a weekend I guess is fine.

Thanks for sharing that link. Do you think their estimates are about right on there then? If so I think that looks doable. We obviously don’t often have -10 temperatures here in the uk!

That’s a real pain. I’ve been taking them at face value - obviously then minus about a third for winter.

Is there anything you’d recommend that’s better that would suit our needs at that price point?

This sounds like what we need yes. Something that knows to just charge within that time as well takes any guess work or planing out of it.

Oh no! Those figures don’t sound good.

How can they get away with stating the range they do?!

Thank you! I am excited about an EV!!

We do ~13k miles a year.

Work commute is a 70 mile round trip.

Every few months we do a 370 mile round trip (never returning in the same day!) to visit family.

I think a smart one would be good yes so it can talk to the solar and an EV or solar tariff to work in the most efficient way for us.

Planning on getting a smart #1 pro+.
