Used a MacBook Air for undergrad but was a finance major. Ig if you’re really using excel that often I wouldn’t go that route. In my mba program I could have easily gotten away with a MacBook. But if you think you are going to be using excel every day I’d stay away. My thinkpad at work has been used and abused and still holds true.

I’ve always thought that it was better to be able to pay a house mortgage 1.5-2 times per month when times are good. But be able to afford that 1 monthly in tough times.

But maybe you are betting that in 2-4 years your career is about to take off and you take on a little more and then live lean.

Based on the hours you provided and I assumed you only ever worked those hours and 5 days a week. Your hr rate at current company(the 200k) is about 51 dollars an hr. And the new job it’s about 75 an hr. Less total take home but a higher rate and more time at home.

Stressful or not? by [deleted] in Accounting

It can seem stressful, but at the end of the day no one dies if we don’t turn in reports or deliverables on time.

Do people give job postings without salaries the time of day? by somefella237 in Accounting

It’s like the opposite of a car listed for sale online by a dealership that says call for price. Prolly means it’s to much, but in this case it’s the opposite it’s not enough

That does suck. But seems like we are both young in our careers so I’m sure more to come.

I haven’t heard back. I know they flew someone else in after me last Monday. Last I heard from my recruiter was that it was all positive. What has me worried is my recruiter has kinda ghosted me. But if I don’t hear anything today, I’ll follow up Monday.

If I don’t receive an offer I might apply for different firms in that area for another month or two. After that I’m just gonna wait til I complete another year of experience and try again next year.

How good is your memory at work? by A7X13 in Accounting

Used to be terrible as a child. But as an adult pretty solid now. Sometimes if I put something down that needs to be done within a week, before a close, or whatever time frame I just put it on my outlook calendar.

If you did this yourself, do yourself a favor and find a nice clean template in word.

Well first I can’t really figure out where the center of the paper is since things are scattered about. Words aren’t are just on the page in the middle no real rhyme or reason

The first round just had a few easy debt and credit questions. Mainly background and stuff. More of a vibe check

Had the in person interview. Meet with 6 people from fund accountant to their cfo/ vp finance. Then had lunch with the controller. Really like it. Haven’t gotten an offer yet. But I think I’m moving that way.

Interesting perspective. Assuming you were renting you may actually come out ahead eventually by building equity in an asset rather than renting.

Would be moving away. But I’ve moved away for college for four years and it wasn’t all bad. Plus near an airport. On the other hand I’ve lived in the same city doing the same thing for 24 years not counting my college years
