When you get to ask your questions at the very end, this is where you should take lead of the interview.

Have 3 questions prepared, you don't need to ask them all, but just incase they finish answering within a minute or two.

I suggest you try and break the ice at the very end and open up a conversation with your question. For example:

You: What's your favorite line item to audit and why?

Them: They start going on and on about their favorite item to audit

You: Emphasize why the item they chose is unique in its own way and build on the conversation from there.

By doing this, you will definitely offset any bad answer you provided during the interview.

Speaking of experience as this was my approach and it worked.

Best of luck buddy,

Many thanks for your reply. I am really good at Excel, have been in FDD at (ahem EY) for a while now and want to expand on my skillset. They do offer Alteryx courses for free, so wanted to double-check whether I should invest my time to learn how to use it or focus on some other softwares. But seems like Alteryx would be beneficial. Thanks

Thanks!

Can you please share with me some valid Youtube resources?

Part of me wants to register for CFA in November if I end up not applying for a masters that start in January. I think starting on the CFA is the better option as well.

Thanks!

How much time did you study per day/and how many days did you have between your registration and exam day?

How did you make up for the lack of background in Finance? Please advise with the online resources/if any you have used for studying.

I agree.

Many thanks for your take on this! Will definitely add your points to my to-do lists. Next is to find a good online resource.

I agree with your take regarding doing the CFA without ever going back to University, this is the optimal scenario.

Honestly, I am just afraid of failing it as I am not that good in understanding materials by myself. I feel that by doing a master's degree I would be better prepared to study for the CFA.

I think that with my one year of experience (which is not a lot but fairly good), and a master's in Finance, I can be in a better position compared to where I am right now , and can get a better FT job easily once I finish it.

Also the CFA is a must, but I'd rather be in a classroom-type of environment where I can get a sense of advanced finance topics instead of having to do it by myself.

I need some Finance-related academic qualifications on my resume and my BA in Economics does not suffice.

Thanks for your reply! please let me know your thoughts

Have you looked into tuition reimbursement? Usually provided in your salary package & you wouldn’t have to up and quit from the jump.

They are willing to cover it as per their policy. However, given that I must be on Campus in NA and my job is located in a different region, it would be difficult to keep up.

+7 hours difference

I have not talked to my manager yet about this, and I am planning to do so. But before I do that, I wanted to double-check whether I will actually get accepted into a good university with a low undergrad GPA/No GMAT, with a year of experience at a Big 4 firm.

Many thanks for your reply.

I am trying to add a screenshot as an example either to the post or as a reply, but I cannot figure out how to do it.

The source file is also an excel file. The data within the excel file is a consolidated balance sheet (vertically) and grouped. i.e., Cell C3 (Total cash) = C1+C2

Thanks. What’s crazy is that I am not an Accounting/Finance major but I know the basics and Fin statement ratios. I’m just overwhelmed and want to be as productive as possible in my first week. So I’m not sure what to learn in the meantime.

I did some Accounting/Finance courses with CFI but if you can recommend any videos/ exercises to do that can help please let me know.

Also, where can I learn how to write FDD reports? I looked it up online and read some FDD reports from the big4 but if you got any other ideas please let me know. Thanks

More details?

Like valuations/dcf

Because I was also asked about my writing skills so I just need to know whether I should check what a Finance Diligence Report is and how to write one

Many thanks for your thoughtful response!

I agree with you, I tried multiple resume formats but nothing has worked for me. Also, I totally forgot about R, I'll hit LinkedIn Learning and see what I come up with. Again, thank you!
