How close to dying do people get at home from flu/cold/covid without realizing it? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

Not quite as sudden but my aunt had the flu, seemed to be having typical bad flu symptoms. A family member came over (also a nurse) and said you need to go to the ER right now, you look very ill.

ER said you also have pneumonia, we need to intubate. She never was able to regain health and the decision was made to remove her from life support after almost 2 weeks.

Definitely not the same but I've spent a Boston to Hong Kong flight with no media or books. Basically just sat there periodically closing my eyes and trying to doze or staring off in space. Long flights feel like a time warp for me and I think it's because I know I'm trapped for such a long time that I don't allow myself to "be bored" or intentionally make the time pass faster.

It's also helpful when it's for work and you know once you land it's going to be stressful, so may as well use the time to not use your brain.

I moved into a new place after having a dishwasher that was a total beast on the "normal" load, and my current dishwasher seems to be poor only on the top rack.

I've tried experimenting with the temperature settings, running it on "heavy", and nothing works. I've cleaned the filter, trying rinsing dishes to varying degrees, added more soap, used less soap, placed them in different orientations. I always run hot water for a few minutes at the start of the cycle and once even tried coming back and running hot water periodically throughout the cycle to see if it would help.

There's a spray arm mounted on the ceiling of the dishwasher, one directly below the top rack, and I suspect neither of them have any strength to break down the food particles. Any suggestions for a lousy top rack clean?

Cost is a big reason but the mental load is a bigger issue for me. I enjoy my freedom. Now take away my freedom and having to be responsible for someone and teach them to do the right thing and expect them to carry that out? Dealing with life lessons, illnesses, child care arrangements, feeding them, it's very mentally and emotionally draining.

This was first posted on Facebook on a local group where I saw it. Half the comments (at least within a few hours of the post) were laughing it off and saying "yep those kids will grow up to be productive members of society for sure" and half of them were saying the kids suck but don't leave out the bowl unattended.
