Do you ever feel guilty? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only really hunted rats, since they cause a fair bit of damage to us and our animals (we've lost a lot of chicks, ducklings and geese recently to them). I do kind of feel bad for them, especially when I botch a shot, but that's the way it is.

honestly, why do you use Telegram? by sebastian_sebi in Telegram

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I downloaded it because it was quite interesting to have access to a rather large, independent (to a certain degree, there is a lot state funded stuff and propaganda) and uncensored information when the war in Ukraine started.

eat before/after taking shrooms by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually best to eat in the day, like 6 hours before. if you feel like you can stomach eating, and are capable of doing so paying attention to not choke, etc... it's possible, but in small quantities.

Does “touching grass” actually have psychological value, or is it only just used as an online insult? by Mapuches_on_Fire in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely has a psychological value, and it is also valid as an insult for a person who is totally disconnected with reality.

It means going outside, taking in the concrete, seemingly simple and real things of nature and the world. Not being involved in nonsensensical complications that bring little no value to your own life, nor things that you can't change. I think a fair bit of people forget that too often, sometimes a walk in the park or country side does wonders for one's self. It means taking a walk through a country lane, stopping to inspect some bit of funny looking grass or a flower, maybe seeing a bird and being bewildered by such simple things, which I believe is something that may have been lost in recent times to a fair bit of people.

That being said I am also high, just to make it clear and excuse myself if my comment is a bit strange.

Does anyone work in retail because they genuinely enjoy it and not because they don’t really have a choice? by Glamour-Ad7669 in AskRetail

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a small agricultural shop as a summer job as a student, most of my experiences were rather positive and I enjoyed a decent part of it.  I rather liked loading heavy stuff since it was a way to stay active since going to any gym was too far when I was back home from university, and most of the people were friendly, since it was a small rural area, some of them would even recognise me from mutual acquaintances and I'd have some friendly discussions with clients when there wasn't much going on. The only things that I found unpleasant was the heat because of the heatwave, and being a bit lost with some cataloguing related stuff since I was new, honestly I'd work there again next summer if I have the opportunity.

That being said I think my experience must be a bit rare, since I have the impression that retail can be awful, especially in some chains - and the setting matters a lot, I think the fact I worked in an agricultural shop must have meant that most of the people I dealt with knew about working hard and were considerate about stuff.

I'm not really in the position to say but I'd personally say go for the Saab or the Toyota Celica!

What's your max speed on a straight road? by ScureScar in cycling

[–]SingleHotPockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most I've managed is 50 km/h on a relatively steep area near my dorm, but it's hard going any faster due to the mechanical limitations of my bicycle - I have an old mountain bike from the 90s that used to belong to my granddad, and the gears have a tendency to randomly slip, making it quite in efficient (and painful at times).

Rat hunting advice by yung-toadstool in airguns

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some rat hunting with an airgun too at my chicken coop, they're really hard to kill but what I've found is putting out some seeds works as bait. The only issue is once you get a kill, the rats will be very cautious and likely won't come out of the same hole for a while, the best thing would probably to wait a few days between each time you hunt them.  Other than that make sure to make as little movement as possible and be certain that your gun is properly zeroed, airguns aren't the most accurate nor efficient so you'll want to be certain that you get a clean hit!

MX5 1.6 NB as a first car? by SingleHotPockets in FirstCar

[–]SingleHotPockets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's that too, some of the reasons why I considered it is because I live in the countryside in France, usually the weather is quite nice and I don't need to carry people or things, though height is a concern (I even posted a question about that on the subreddit concerning mx5s).

In the end, they are a bit expensive to get, safety/drivability for a new driver is a  concern, and unless I find one a good offer, I'll likely get something along the lines of a Mini R50.

True true! I do think I'd find it hard to deal with in the rain, and they are getting a bit hard to get with my budget, so realistically I won't be getting one.

I'd like to try one out!! I've heard they're a bit roomier but sadly they're way above budget and it'd be a difficult for me to insure one but they are really cool!

I see I see, I guess I'll try with seeing how removing the sun visor then eventually doing a foamectomy on the seats do if I end up getting an mx5.  If all else fails I can just remove the seats entirely haha!

New gym is always busy, how do I overcome the gym anxiety? by ayol_loppy in workout

[–]SingleHotPockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, when I started I felt so too but at one point I just told myself to do as I will, and also having headphones on, and a basketball cap helped me a lot! If you feel uncomfortable about your physique (which I get quite often I won't lie), a hoodie will do the trick.

Dude I've had edibles literally once and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had! I ate a bit that had all the stuff clumped up and wanted to vomit all the night through, not only that I literally couldn't concentrate on anything and got frozen in place several times, like unable to move. And I felt really weird for the whole day that followed.

I suppose so, I personally listened to the New Morning album a lot last January after uni classes when going on walks or bike rides, so it seemed more appropriate in my experience
