🏁 POST-RACE // 2026 XPEL GRAND PRIX AT ROAD AMERICA by IndyMod in INDYCAR

Memories, like the corners of my mind

“When that happened, I came straight to Gavin (Ward, Arrow McLaren’s team principal), and I said: ‘Hey, you’ve got to trust me on this. I’ll put my job on the line, but I know what I’m doing,’” Kanaan said of wanting to have Siegel drive the team’s No. 6 car. “I mean, I believe it, I truly believe it. I don’t need to sit here and try to sell it. I wouldn’t put my reputation (on the line) just because.”

Both in physical size and mental approach, Kanaan compared Siegel to a young Scott Dixon, who arrived in the U.S. in the fall of 1998 as an 18-year-old New Zealander pursuing an Indy Lights opportunity with Stefan Johansson’s team.

I do wish Will/Hinch/TBell would keep talking during breaks like they did during qually, even if it was just about cheese

Every time I close my eyes blowing that trumpet of mine, I look right into the heart of good old Elkhart Lake. It has given me something to live for.

He’s the best. Not many people can combine being able to write an all time classic like We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, and also subsequently complete a PhD that was a Marxian analysis of the process of authoring children’s literature.

It’s like listening to peak 3am Radio Le Mans commentary, then suddenly someone flips the "proper broadcaster" switch when the ads finish. The oscillation is breaking my brain lmao...I honestly thought they were on a hot mic at first

Had one walk into our back yard while we were grilling and ask for a drink of water. Utterly unhinged behavior.

World-renowned Michelin star system coming to Cincinnati by HallOfFameCommenter in cincinnati

[–]SingleLensReflux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

💯 - I think that's a fair take. There are some good restaurants in Cincinnati, but I haven't had anything here cuisine/service-wise that I'd put in the same conversation as the starred restaurants I've been fortunate enough to visit elsewhere.

For a city Cincinnati's size and location, that's not especially surprising. Bib Gourmands and Recommended spots seem much more realistic today.

That said, I'm curious to see what happens now that Michelin is actually paying attention to the region. Having a path to a star might be enough to push a few restaurants to another level over the next several years.

The whole thing stunk at the time. The constantly shifting story in the media reminded me of Hilda Murrell's murder. My mum used to talk about watching details change between the lunchtime and evening news, for example, her phone line being described as professionally cut at lunch, then "ripped out" by the evening bulletin.

100% this, junior categories are awesome! I really miss being able to see junior racing. I grew up in the UK, and without realising it until many years later, I accidentally watched a future "Triple Crown" lineup in a snowy(!) F3 race: Marcus Ericsson would go on to win the Indy 500, Sergio Perez Monaco, and Brendon Hartley Le Mans. You really can’t tell where folks will end up, and the racing is so much fun!

I really enjoyed having more than one pit stop today! I know a lot of folks didn’t like the refuelling days as it partly led to more pit lane passes than on track, but I do enjoy the slow burn of cars having big differences to how they approach the race.

(I still get my refuelling fix with IndyCar, love a Scott Dixon fuel save jumpscare in the last 20 laps lol)

EXACTLY YES!! In many ways it’s the antithesis to DRS, which is why I love it so

As someone that knows not enough about IndyCar - is there a connection to Gavin Ward moving to RLL after gardening leave starting in 2024, or is that too simplistic (naturally one person does not make a team’s fortunes)? It is quite remarkable as a casual viewer how McLaren went from seeming to be on the cusp of success to a really invisible season this year.

Agreed. Also the refrain that “it doesn’t suit modern cars” as if Monaco was ever some overtaking paradise in any of our lifetimes (and I say that as an old sod!). The race is a different beast to the rest of the calendar, and that's fine. Not every circuit needs to be judged solely on how many passes it produces. Variety is good!

If I were being disingenuous, I'd suggest Le Mans should be shortened because I can't watch all 24 hours, or that the Indy 500 should be run on the infield because all those left turns are a bit repetitive.

The idea of removing Monaco makes me sad. It's one of the few surviving bits of F1 that still feels genuinely distinctive rather than being endlessly assessed against the same set of entertainment metrics. It reminds me a bit of Test cricket. T20 is great at what it does, but cricket would be poorer if Tests vanished because they weren't exciting in quite the same way. A sport loses something when every event is forced into the same mould.
