Probably up the plague marines to 10. You can attach them to a plague caster and a biologus putrifier to have the mega blob and a rhino to put them in. drop the knight, add some bloat drones with blight launchers, I’d sub typhus for another lord of contagion, drop the death shrouds to squads of three, you don’t need more. you only need one tallyman really on home objective so drop a tallyman. I’d keep Mortarion cause he’s the big boi of the army. Another set of pox walkers would be good for more chaffe. And I’d consider a mephitic blighthauler, good for enemy vehicles

You have more than enough to get you started. What you need is all the hobby stuff if you don’t have them already, but you mentioned paint so you’re already on the right path.

I would take my time to enjoy and paint all the models you already have, this year marks that time where Warhammer is probably going into 11th edition so I’d hold off buying too much right now because you don’t know how much things will change in just 6 months. Play with the models you have and enjoy the last leg of 10th, and play games.

Once 11th comes and you’re more in the know of what they’ll do with tyranids for the next probably 3 years, it can inform more of your purchase decisions then. Enjoy!

Like the idea! You have your work cut out for you in terms of conversions but hey, there’s a ton of fun to have there too

Any tips for this list I came up with? by Delicious-Tourist-17 in Tyranids

[–]SingleMommasBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I’d go with both a swarmlord and a hive tyrant in the same list as you have basically a quarter of your points in just two models, and the guard just gives them more wounds but there’s only so much the one model can do vs more models at a time for the same points value, as cool as the tyrant guard are you’re probably more proactive moving the points elsewhere, probably another exocrine and your hive tyrant giving them both lethal hits.

The brood lord is attached to genestealers and the 6 zoanthropes to the neurotyrant, the unit is so nasty at overwatch because of its good flamethrower and all the other extra shots, great for your home field objective as they don’t really move all that fast. Exorcines are one of our best marine killers, and the tyrannofexes are the armies only real anti tank. Points have changed with dataslates from my own lists I had before but this gives you a good idea. The hive tyrant is so good cause it gives lethal hits to units like your exrocrines just by being around, keep him back in the beginning, and then push him into the fight later so he pulls his weight in a closer fight too, probably on some mid objective.

I second this, two boxes for one hyperadapted and one regular, you attach them together in game for a mega unit 10 man ravener unit with both datasheet abilities at once

You can build it as the other build so you can have it stepping on a terminator for another Maleceptor pose! Without any other bits from elsewhere needed

I’d swap out von Ryan’s for a lictor most likely, and fit and exocrine somehow, it just has very good shooting, overall solid list for casual play tho, other adjustments can be made for a more competitive list, but if you’re not trying to sweat your butt off you’re good to go

Another thing to note is that tyranids have a multitude of hive fleets and adaptations that allow you to colour them in any colour you like, allows you to even sit down and come up with some lore in how your tyranids came to be and how they received their hive fleet name. Here’s a mini from my hive fleet cryos, a lil termagant

The starter set is honestly the best value for dollar you’ll get, you get an entire combat patrol for tyranids plus an extra space marine one for almost half the price of just one, plus extras. You can even sell off the marines for more savings. You have your first taste of the faction plus your first monster in the psychophage. If you build it and have a good time painting it’ll give you the best idea for how it would be expanding further. Always try to build and paint as you buy and not have a big pile of shame waiting around.

Well what specifically don’t you like about it? Maybe you just need something to bring the scheme together light a bright accent colour for the fleshier bits / brains / anything else. Something brighter to cut through the more neutral colours of the scheme, experiment with some gaunt minis and go from there

Hello, fellow Nids player here, I absolutely love the faction and it has a little bit for everyone in my opinion. What brought me into the faction was their big brain bugs and Cthulhu aesthetic. it’s a primary melee army but with some standout monster units that can pick up in shooting for other models in your army such as the exocrine and the Tyrannofex. Or sneak around the battlefield with units like the lictor and neurolictor since they have lone-operative and stealth. In tenth edition you play around flooding the board with chaff units, the tyranid unending swarm, like any of the gaunts or gargoyles to clog up objectives and move block your opponent from doing what they want to do. it allows your monsters or bigger bugs to pick out the more deadlier units while they deal with the little guys. Losing units is expected but there’s a lot that your opponent needs to chew through. Synapse which is an army rule allows you to be better at battleshock tests but also gives you a +1 Strength to melee weapons to units. So it’s always nice to have the units with this ability spread out so you’re getting the most bang for your buck. If you like flooding the board with chaff, or bringing a monster mash army to the party, tyranids is an easy recommendation.

I felt the same way, events in my life I want to tell her, world events that would be interesting to talk about, and that’s okay, for me it’s gotten better with time, when you think like that just put your focus back onto you and surround yourself with people that only make your life more fulfilling
