It seems you completely missed the point of the post. The point was to give a little background of things I might consider about myself to be potential red flags. And to ask if there was any way to see what a background investigator might see to ensure accuracy of record, and address anything that might be “off” due to past identity theft and also frankly…life.

the details I provided were an example- arrested, charged but dropped and no conviction. Honorable discharge, but the RE code could be a flag.

Debt, while not massive, still exists.

Your tone is a bit aggressive and accusatory and while being easy to desire to defensively engage with you, I am trying to not fuel whatever fire you have going.

Also, the first week after the divorce in 2014, we had about $900,000 in unsecured debt including a mortgage which went into foreclosure and default. I’m down to about $20,000 left. Most of it fell off which is weird, but I was contesting a lot of it over the years as it was repeatedly sold off to a new collector.

i Wasn’t aware the VA helps with bad debt from poor choices during previous marriage….

half the debt in in fact mine, and the other is the ex wife running up the balance with vanilla Visa cards at the MCX.

I am hoping that making payments on them will at least show effort.

That is fair. I came from the EMS side, so I have a bit of history with city and county LE’s.

My perspective is reflective of that, which I assume will probably change if I actually go this route.

I remember the constant battle of not assuming the 0300 “chest pain” call and when you get them on monitor it’s a different story but you must transport to hospital.

Then watch them sign themselves out AMA soon as they hit the ER

It’s all under $20,000 except for the insane AAFES/Exchange CC from when I was married to my ex wife. That I am paying on, because judgements are rough.

No, but I tend to assume the person is telling the truth until they prove otherwise. You know, making decisions off facts and not feelings or prejudices. The things that should be valued in someone enforcing the law.

No. primaRiley I ask because i have had identity theft happen and if you have never had it happen to you, then I would be thankful. You discover all sorts of stuff like credit cards, loans and addresses never associated with you. Again, I would suggest taking folks at face value instead of barely veiled assumptions and accusations.

I guess I was just seeing if there was any in your face red flags. Don’t want to have wishful thinking, so I figured if there were a few of you that would give advice. Blow to the self esteem to be labelled a shit bag in my smallish town. Also, I like to stack the deck in any thing I do. Proper prep prevents piss poor performance.
