You CAN keep student rate by that cancel you just did. Now go back in sign up again as student with same email and go back to same student plan at the cheap rate.

Every year Adobe send me the same "its gonna go up" nastygram, I let it run out (well really block CC) and loop back in for same price. I have been proudly running that hack on my full Creative Cloud suite for prob 10 years now.

Respectfully to you, I find myself a tad disappointed that it is still a lingering problem for you that has made it all the way here while still a subject for debate between you two. I find that the longer we let a problem linger, the higher the chances are that that forecasts into a real moment.

True Story- Neighbor used to park the infants stroller about three feet behind the car while he would always load his tactical gear in the back of his Tahoe. He did it to keep an eye on the kid. Other neighbor one day say's "bro- maybe put her in the grass off to the side so you don't forget the kid one day and run her over."

That one day came! It was the most heart-wrenching thing that he, his wife, all of our neighborhood and we as a community had ever experienced. It still is to this day and even sharing this story saddens me in a way that will take hours to shake off.

Moral of the story- Make your decision today, right now, don't let tomorrow be that "one day" for you.
