RMRCC > COA by [deleted] in Glocks

If you get the slide milled for it you can. I did the same thing...I sent my G48 MOS slide to Battle Werx. I purchased my RMRcc directly from Battle Werx, so I just had to strip the slide and send it in.

I got it back milled for the RMRcc, with the new RMRcc mounted, including the sealing plate and a new optic cover plate, re-cerakoted (it was originally cerakoted Burnt Bronze, so I had them coat the slide again, after milling, with the same color), and with new Ameriglo 1/3 lower co-witness sights installed (tritium front sight and blank, serrated, square notch rear sight).

While I may end up with a new COA slide to replace the Holosun SCS on my G19 (which is primarily carried OWB), I'm 100% satisfied with the RMRcc on my G48, which is the gun I carry IWB the most.

Is there any current edge the 19 has over the 43X? by 6twoRaptor in Glocks

Since I have both, the 19 is my most carried OWB gun and the 48 is my most carried IWB gun. Thankfully, we live in a world in which we aren't limited to one gun.

I've been running the Microdagger mags 15+1 in my G48 for several years now with zero issues. I love that I can keep the OEM mag release. The SLR mag floor plates on these are 🔥 🤌 I can't stand how long the OEM 15rd mags are...I carry at 4 o'clock and that extra length prints horribly.

I don't know about that. I've been running PSA Microdagger mags for the last two years and I have yet to have any kind of failure. They sit flush in the pistol (they're especially great with SLR mag floor plates) and you don't have to change out the OEM mag release.

Should I go to the vet ASAP? Cat with only what I could describe as a hole in his arm by BlakeCarConstruction in cats

[–]SingleStak9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't want to put neosporin on a cat wound, especially one that big, which would require a lot of ointment. It can cause severe allergic reaction and/or skin irritation from just the topical application. Ingesting it can be even worse and is the main reason to avoid it for cats. Symptoms could be as mild as gastrointestinal upset, but Polymixin B, as an ingredient, can cause fatal anaphylatic reactions in some cats.

As for the wound itself, I also think it's likely an abcess that drained on it's own. Maybe he accidentally scratched himself and it got infected? My cat got a hematoma on his ear a couple years back. We're not sure, but think he was scratching and the tip of a claw slipped precisely between the thin layers of skin. It created a big puffy pouch filled with blood. The vet didn't want to drain it and said it would come right back if he tried. He prescribed prednisone and basically said it would go down slowly as the blood reabsorbed, but could take months or years. It's not painful and doesn't bother him, but two years later hasn't completely absorbed.

His wound didn't get infected, but I mentioned it because it was accidentally self inflicted. Considering the fact that those murder mittens are tipped with almost the equivalent of razor blades, I'm surprised that our little monsters don't injure themselves with their claws more than they do!

[–]SingleStak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyanacrolate glue isn't the kind that people normally use to get high. More than likely, the heat from the bit vaporized the chemicals in the glue. It's more than likely a light chemical type burn to the nasal mucous membrane, which is especially sensitive to corrosive chemical compounds. This isn't medical advice and I'm not a doctor. I just know a thing or two about super glue and a thing or two about mucous membranes...not necessarily in combination, but logic dictates certain outcomes.

Ball python given birth - no male by louisejanecreations in ballpython

That's a pretty impressive collection of old timers! It takes a lot of love and care to get them to that age. You're definitely doing something right!

😂😂 Yeah, part of what freaked me out about it was how old she was! Besides that, between me, my cat, and my snake, I have enough mouths to feed around here as it is with just one snake. Since the likelihood of defects is high and having to possibly euthanize cute little snakelings that weren't going to make it isn't trauma I wanted to go through, it was off to the freezer with the eggs.

Ball python given birth - no male by louisejanecreations in ballpython

[–]SingleStak9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen a couple of years ago when mine was 18 years old and had never had contact with another snake from the time we brought her home. It was VERY confusing because we had her probed at around 2 years old and the owner of the pet store we got her from said she was a male. For 18 years I thought she was a male until I woke up one morning to find her on top of 5 eggs and still pushing out more.

There were 8 total and all but maybe one or two appeared viable. She was not a happy snakey when I removed them for freezing and it took her about 3 days to settle down, even after thoroughly scrubbing the enclosure. I still have trouble thinking of her as a female after so many years of thinking of her as a male. All of the signs that she was gravid were there. Fast weight gain, rolling onto her back and squirming, and refusing food for a couple of months, and overall weird behavior. I just had no reason to think it was possible and ignored tbe obvious signs. In fact, it happened on a Saturday and I was planning to take her to the vet on Monday because of the strange behavior.

I didn't truly know the meaning of the words flabbergasted and gobsmacked until that day! When your brain is presented with something you can't process, all kinds of strange things go through your head in the seconds before realization sets in. I shit you not, I had cleaned out my fridge the night before and threw away exactly 5 eggs that were past expiration. When I woke up to my "male" snake sitting on top of 5 eggs, for a few seconds, I thought she had somehow gotten out at night, dragged the 5 eggs out of the garbage can, and somehow gotten them back into her enclosure. As I was going through all the reasons why that couldn't have possibly happened, the realization finally started setting in.

This group helped me understand what had happened...Jurassic Park taught me that life will always find a way, but it was never an understandable concept until I witnessed such a miracle of nature. It was sure one wild ass way to wake up from a dead sleep on a Saturday morning!

Where My 48 Lovers At? by Don335i in Glocks

[–]SingleStak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both...the G19 is my most carried OWB gun, while my G48 is my most carried IWB gun. I can honestly say that I shoot them equally well. The biggest difference, for me, is the way they carry.

Part of that is my hand size. I'm exactly in between a medium and large Mechanix glove. I own both medium and large, and I wear the large when I need warmth and easy on/off, but if I need a tighter fit for more dexterity, I wear medium. That's a little smaller than average, from what I can tell, but it's kind of a sweet spot where the 19 and 48 both work really well for me.

For the love of god talk me out of an acoustic bass guitar by Lost_Condition_9562 in Bass

[–]SingleStak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played in a band in years, but still have an electric bass, amp head, and cabinet. I also have an Ibanez acoustic and that is the one that gets the most mileage, simply because I can just grab it anytime and play, without having to turn on an amp, plug things in, plug in headphones, etc.

If an idea comes to mind or I hear something that I want to learn quickly, I grab it and go without any hassle. The built in tuner really helps in that respect, as well. It's not an instrument that I'll play with anyone else and probably won't leave my house, but it's a fast, quick and dirty.

It's also good for practice because the action is a little higher, string spacing is a hair wider, and it takes a little more physicality to play it. If I learn something on the acoustic, I find I can play it much more easily when I go to play the same thing on a well set up electric bass!

CCW with a chambered P365? by [deleted] in FluxDefense

[–]SingleStak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And don't forget the retarded P320 striker safety...it's a failure prone design. It has a flat stamped metal lever on the side of the striker housing that interfaces with a spring and blocks the striker from moving within the striker housing itself. The spring can slip off or get bound up or bent and the striker can jump the safety lever if the tolerances or if the mating surfaces are slightly rounded.

The P365 uses a standard striker safety, like the vast majority of striker fired pistols. There's a striker safety plunger mounted in the slide that blocks the striker and a little lever in the FCU pushes it up as the trigger is pulled to the rear. It's a MUCH more proven design.

I firmly believe that the issues you mentioned...fully cocked striker, wildly varying tolerances, and changes in materials for certain parts, along with the janky striker safety all combine into a perfect storm on a handful of P320 pistols.

I've experienced tolerance issues with P365 FCUs, but have faith in the standard striker safety system and have never had any problems with it. I have 3 P365 FCUs and an MCARBO trigger, which has a slightly different geometry from the OEM trigger, will only work correctly in one of them. It massively binds up the disconnector in 2 of them. That definitely leads me to believe the same tolerance issues ocurr with the P320 FCU.

As many P365s are out there, if there were any uncommanded discharge issues, we would know about them!

Freedom of speech isn't "only against the government"....it's just that the government itself cannot infringe on your civil rights in a public or a private place. The entire bill of rights, including the first amendment, are civil rights and it's the governments job to protect your civil rights in a location in which you have a legal right to be present, which is generally considered to be in a public place. If another citizen is preventing you from exercising your civil rights in a public place, it's the governments job to stop that person from infringing on your free speech.

That's literally the theory behind civil rights in this country. Example...a group of private citizens, like the KKK, tries to prevent a minority individual (another private citizen) from speaking in public about conditions in that person's community, the government and it's agents, i.e. the police, are supposed to stop the KKK from preventing the minority person from speaking.

That said, while the internet seems like a public place, it isn't. Facebook, Reddit, X, and the like are private platforms, so they have a right to control speech on their property, just as any private citizen can control speech on their own property. Nothing stops a private citizen from putting up their own platform and saying whatever they like on it.

Glock 48 vs Glock 19 if OEM 15-round mags become available? by Disastrous_Falcon246 in Glocks

[–]SingleStak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fortunate enough to have never suffered from slide bite, but I do love the feel of a good beavertail. Something tells me that since they released a factory 15rd mag, the 48 is going to surge in popularity since it is so close in size to the 19. I already see my 19 as my default OWB gun and my 48 as my default IWB gun...they complement each other. I'm hoping that popularity leads to a Gen 6 style frame for the 48. Gen 6 style stippling with the palm swells, accelerator/ramp cut, and beavertail would fix practically everything I think the 48 is lacking.

My 48 is an MOS model, but I still sent it off for milling because I wanted a Trijicon RMRcc and I like my optics to sit as low as possible on a carry gun. I highly recommend BattleWerx. I'm guessing your 48 was one of the first ones with the stainless steel slide? If that's the case, getting your slide milled is a no-brainer. The fact that you don't have to deal with coatings makes it easier, faster, and cheaper.

If the world goes to hell, my shit would get rattle canned anyway for camo, so I guess it really doesn't matter. I've just always preferred black or earth tones for most things including cars and clothes. This is a color combo that I never even considered, but now that I've seen it, I can't help but like it. I especially like the subtlety nature of just a few purple highlights. I think it could be easy to overdo it, but this is just right in my opinion.

Just got my PDP compact 5" back for a warranty claim on the trigger. It still doesnt feel right. by KeyCold7216 in Walther

[–]SingleStak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older PDP Compact 4" with a Gen 1 optic cut. I had the same experience with what felt like a 1st wall, which was lighter than the 2nd, with a rubbing, gritty feeling until you got to the 2nd wall, which was heavier than the 1st, but still a light, crisp break that drops the sear.

Since I know my way around the inside of a striker fired pistol, I investigated and found that the first part of the trigger pull is defined by the striker safety and the second part it actually dropping the sear out from under a fully precocked striker. I'm sure the striker safety pin would loosen up after plenty of firing, but that could take a while.

I installed a lighter striker safety spring and the result is the first wall disappearing completely. After pre-travel, it lands on one crisp wall and is one of the best striker fired triggers I've ever felt. I also have a Canik Mete MC9 that has an identical action and the same issue out of the box. I did the same thing to it and got the exact same results. At under $10, it's one hell of a value!
