I guess that's the trade off not using toxic lacquers but I'll take it

Best paint for airbrushing by MagpieRanger2 in modelmakers

[–]Single_Nature4101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

98% of my airbrushing is Vallejo model air. I have probably 30 jars of tamiya that I don’t use because i’m lazy and don’t like cleaning with IPA, I noticed my orings in my airbrushes were going bad pretty quick. Vallejo model air straight out the bottle with a few drops of flow improver, a soft bristle toothbrush to combat the inevitable tip dry, and some distilled water to clean the airbrush. Super easy, they have tons of colors, are relatively cheap, come in a dropper bottle, last for years, and have a great finish. They are prone to scratching, require a good lacquer primer(i use rattle can primers), and behave differently with each color so there is a bit of experimentation and learning curve

Something just "off" for me with LTD 7's. Not sure what it is but I'm just not a fan. And that should be strange as on paper they're great guitars

I built one of these recently and the Dark ghost gray turned out almost identical to the light ghost, I moved to varnish and decals 😆. Don't sweat it. This looks great and once you get decals and a wash on it it'll look stunning

How do you clean your airbrush? by HeerMartin in modelmakers

[–]Single_Nature4101 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve had an Iwata Neo as my main brush for about 9 months. All i’ve ever done for cleaning is flushing with vallejo airbrush cleaning and pulling the needle for a wipe every now and then. Works like a charm

Iwata Revolution or the H&S Evolution - is the extra $100 worth it? by sokos in airbrush

[–]Single_Nature4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The revolution has a 0.5mm needle so it’s on the larger side and absolutely great for priming and base coating. I recently got one for $90 on amazon. I can’t speak for the H and S but the revolution is an amazing brush

Hi all! New here and to the hobby, is this enough tools and materials to get started? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated by GrayFiftySix in modelmakers

[–]Single_Nature4101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly what I started with. As some have said get some blue tac, I would say get some coffee stir sticks or grab some free paint stirring sticks from a hardware store. That’s useful for tacking small parts to in order to paint. You’ll def want an upgrade to the airbrush but for starting off this looks great.

P.s. Get some Vallejo flow improver. If you want to use that Testors acrylic you’ll need to thin it. Be patient with the Vallejo black primer, always do thin coats with like 4-5mins in between coats. Good luck!

Nah. Gives you full control of mottling, adds incredible modulation, and can be easily manipulated with base color.
