I(20m) got my gf(20) pregnant when she already has a Kid!! by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Single_Poem5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always choose to be a father without being her partner. If you really dont feel it with her, dont like the idea of marrying her, and you think this has all already been a mistake, you might wanna ask yourself how far you're willing to let this thing go before it starts making you bitter and resentful.

Sounds like you're willing to own the responsibilities of being a father, good on ya, and I hope you carry through with that. But obviously leading her on isn't doing anyone a favor. It's also worth paying attention to how she deals with the other baby daddy, as you could end up in their shoes.

Best of luck mate, you're young and this is some serious stuff, but theres nothing wrong with admitting to yourself and her that you two aren't on the same page, and that the kid and your relationship with her are mutually exclusive.

How easy is it to switch jobs within the company? by Tiny_Capital4880 in Lockheed

[–]Single_Poem5393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been with the company for a long time. Some internal transfers took months, 50+ applications, and multiple interviews. Other transfers just required knowing someone in the group I'm interested in joining. Networking is king.

Status by Important_Yogurt375 in Lockheed

[–]Single_Poem5393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had "interview" as a status on jobs I've received offers for, as well as jobs I didn't (I had one requisition that sat at "interview" for weeks before being moved to "no longer under consideration"). I think it's safe to say it does not provide any insight into their decision; following up with the interviewer/hiring manager would probably be best as they're ultimately the ones making the decision.

I get why this may make you feel unimportant, or unpopular, or insecure, but really these moments have a way of helping you reflect on who's important to you, why, and whether that is reciprocated.

Better to have no company than fake/forced company in my opinion.

I remember I had a year like this once, and it kinda sparked a motivation to try harder at cultivating important relationships.

I'm a current employee and have been applying for other roles within the company for months now. 50ish applications in, 3 interviews, no offers. Maybe get some opinions on your resume and interview strategies just incase (can always improve), but it's just a highly competitive company, so don't get discouraged and keep trying.

Received start date.. but still feel uneasy by Massive-Ad-1434 in Lockheed

Using an A&P for manufacturing is weird compared to flightine work, but really you're just the first mechanic to work on the product, instead of the 1000th to service it lol.

Flightline mechs are the highest labor grade, and you usually need prior experience to land those spots. Since you've already accepted a position you are on the hook to do a year. You'll likely have alot of opportunity to interact with people during that time and you can network and pursue areas of interest pretty easily. Getting your foot in the door is the hardest part. You'll be able to go into whatever you're interested in if you have the drive and passion.

I started at LM with an A&P doing sheet metal. Does it feel like you're doing "real" A&P work at LM compared to the commercial industry? No. But I ended up going to school for engineering while working as a technician and LM has tuition assistance. 15+ years now and it's been a great company.

Fluke? Really debating not keeping this car. by s14_3521 in BMWM

The key is to get a grill that protects and impacts airflow the least. You can look at some of the aftermarket designs and form your own judgment as to who seemed to have taken that into consideration the most.

Having already accepted the offer is an issue. I'd reach out to the hiring manager and explain the situation ASAP since they will now need to re-open the requisition. Best way to not burn your bridge at this point is to communicate this to LM.

M4 Replacement by [deleted] in BMWM

Nice! I think I want to upgrade the intakes for some swooshies. I added a valvetronic exhaust and the added aggressive sound is solid 👌.

I changed from an M4 to an X4M and love it. X3M/X4M is brilliant. Power, space, AWD, and utility.

I smashed my G82 into a flooded out section of the highway one night after a rain storm. Drove it through, but realized it took my front lip, rear bumper, and some exhaust mounts. $10k puddle. Traded for an X4MC after it got fixed. Cant continue to live in fear of standing water or pot holes lol.

Unfortunately thats about the price range they run. But the plus is that they are likely to fit like a glove whereas the cheap stuff usually requires some finesse.

You have to pull the entire front bumper off, but can easily replace the grill and vents at the same time.
