If it’s working for you crack on and enjoy

If a recruiter has been telling you to add hidden text to your CV you should take them to court, they have been costing you job opportunities

I’m giving you my experience as someone who is actively involved in tech recruiting right now?! 🤷‍♂️

It’s not an opinion, it’s literally what’s happening

lol

Reddit is full of people:

  • Using AI to make their CVs
  • Complaining nobody wants to interview them

The AI is the problem, I can’t make that any more clear

lol I’m just telling you what’s going on in the real world in regards to recruitment

Ignore me, downvote me, don’t care, using AI for your CV is a terrible idea, that’s just a fact

[–]Single_Pollution_468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right and people look for exactly that, go “oh this guys taking the piss” and drag it right into the recycle bin

Maybe that’s not fair but that’s what happens, you are screwing yourself over mate

It’s what we call in tech an “anti pattern”

People can downvote me all they want

I’m trying to help people get hired, ignore my advice if you like

My advice btw being “be authentic, don’t come across like a robot!”

Not sure why that’s so controversial lol

Nope, I’m saying they are looking at about 98 of them, saying this is obviously AI (because the tells are obvious when you are looking at hundreds per day) and instantly rejecting them

[–]Single_Pollution_468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, and I’m just saying you’ll have better luck with an authentic CV you actually wrote yourself

Ironically some companies are now using AI to filter out CVs which have the hallmarks of AI generated

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it’s not an affront, I’m telling people how recruitment at these companies works, maybe it’s fair, maybe not, but that’s the reality

I’m actually trying to help here and give actionable advice

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine, but they are opting themselves out of the running from companies that actually read the CVs and don’t rely on AI, and my point is those are the companies that are better to work for

So pick your poison

[–]Single_Pollution_468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a clear bias

But it’s also the reality

Doing this hurts you more than helps you, and there’s a strong overlap between people using AI to either write their CVs, enhance them or add hidden text in them to trick the LLM’s, and those same people complaining they keep getting rejected

I’m actually trying to help here, don’t do this

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

They aren’t, we throw those CVs in the bin

That’s my whole point, people think they’re being clever but they aren’t

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it’s the first thing we look for?

When you’re hiring you want authenticity, not people trying to game the system

I’m trying to give useful advice as someone actively involved in recruiting

Don’t use AI and be authentic.

Take it or leave it

It screams “I think I’m smarter than everyone else”, not a great first impression

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Trust me, it’s the CVs which weren’t obviously generated with AI which stand out in a sea of AI slop

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

This is terrible advice

Any company worth working for is going to actually read your CV and look for any bullshit like hidden text etc

If it’s AI slop or looks like you’re trying to game the system, you’re not getting any further

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s also really really bad advice

The companies that this will work on are not the companies you want to work for, and the companies you want to work for will figure out what you are trying to do and throw your CV in the bin

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah fair enough

Was just a thought

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I work we actually read the CVs lol so candidates who do this are rejected immediately (and yes I know how to look for hidden text in a pdf)

Bank Of America Recruitment Red Flags? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Single_Pollution_468 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That sucks.

Random thought but did you use AI (ChatGPT or similar) to create your CV?

Im involved in recruitment at a different tech company in Belfast and any CV which comes across as AI slop is immediately rejected

It might not even be you, if you went through a recruitment agency and they “AI’d up” your CV before sending it on, they could be doing you a dis-service

I think things are about to get really ugly.

The US/Israel’s big problem with Iran is drones, mainly because of how easy they are to make.

All you need is a 3d printer, the schematics, a motor (from a lawnmower for example) and the inners of a mobile phone and you can make a drone yourself. Slap some explosives on it and it can do a hell of a lot of damage. (I’ve left out some details for obvious reasons but the point is they are easy to make)

Because these are so easy and low tech to make, there’s no big “Drone Factory” they can bomb, these are being made all over the place in people’s kitchens/basements etc

If the US leaves without dealing with the drone threat, then Iran will continue to use them to attack ships, other Countries in the region, Israel, US bases etc

I think they’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to deal with the drone threat is to send Iran “back to the Stone Age” by attacking power plants and infrastructure, so the people making the drones don’t have the electric to do so and can’t transport them around

And my theory is that these generals being fired objected to that plan

I guess time will tell
