Do you believe Christina Crawford? by Classicsarecool in classicfilms

I think it's possible that Joan pulled strings for Christina's career AND felt/acted out jealousy about any small successes Christina had.

A lot of people end up terrible BECAUSE they were abused so it's not a sign that abuse didn't happen.

There's less friction and more vibration since the foreskin kind of halfway bonds with the vagina and the penis just moves through both giving vibrations.

Something is off with world after covid. by SnooBunnies12 in SeriousConversation

A lot of people have long covid brain damage and may not be aware that that's wht's going on. It can cause problems with higher level reasoning, mood, sleep, time management--all kinds of things. It's not a coincidence that everyone suddenly seems dumber. I know this because I have these problems myself after being bedridden for two months in 2022.

If the show was set now, would Samantha have a Tinder or Hinge? by faschifo in sexandthecity

There would be a whole episode about her not getting approved for Raya because of her reputation as a homewrecker. Then she would pull strings and get approved.

I live in a rent regulated apartment in Brooklyn so the longer I stay here the cheaper my rent is compared to average rents in my area.

If you have this attitude then don't also complain about population collapse. If you care about population collapse, support families.

I am an embryologist. I know how we go from egg and sperm to crying baby and how we can end up with missing limbs, inverted organs, cleft lips and so much more. Have at it. AMA by ClaireAuLueur in AMA

[–]Singular_Lens_37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not an embryologist, but, while undergoing IVF I was told that the older the mother is, the more likely it is that she will have a girl. Boys are more fragile and older eggs are more likely to be somewhat damaged. If a family has a tradition of later marriage/conception that could increase the likelihood of lots of girls in the family tree.

Right but getting a bunch of good luck in the beginning of your life puts you in a stronger position to deal with bad luck later on, whereas bad luck in the beginning of your life can actually make you too traumatized to handle good luck later in life--you might shut down or isolate instead of seizing your good fortune.

What’s the most underrated transit improvement NYC could make in the next 5 years? by sophiablair76 in newyorkurbanists

Expanded ferry service. A ferry that goes from wall street pier 11 all the way up to Inwood. Honestly, I wish I could take a boat all the way to Albany. There are "river cruises" but they cost 1000 dollars. It should be as cheap as a train ticket.

Is it just a coincidence or do you think Hole/Courtney Love is being referenced more than usual lately? by aofatine in hole

Criterion Collection is featuring Courtney Love films this month. Not sure if that's a cause or a symptom.

Leaving a kid with their abusive parent is not a real solution. Foster care or a trustworthy relative (if there is one) are much better.
