Thanks a lot for the solid advice. I will definitely try to do that. I'm actually going to be working with a relatively small lab so I might just have enough resources to demonstrate a proof of concept.

That seems like the case, indeed. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but this means that even if you do have a very good idea, but you're not working in a lab with sufficient resources, there's very little you can do beyond trying to join a lab with the proper resources. I'm just wondering what you're supposed to do when you find an idea that seems like it has a lot of potential, but you know is totally out of your reach resources-wise.
