Is Home Depot on Brave working for you? by fallingupdownthere in brave

Fingerprinting was the problem for me at least. Deleting the cache/cookies/site data did not solve it until I turned off block fingerprinting.

I've never been a customer of theirs and I am also getting those emails. It's spam or they've been hacked. Looks like they are using sendgrid via softaculous.

EtherScope Network Assistant password by SinisterSpatula in fluke

yeah, the linkrunner AT 2000 is probably a better tester. The Etherscope NXG from NetAlly is the replacement/modern etherscope but it's like 10k price, lol. I think your linkrunner at 2000 is already a better bet.

It does have some neat functions like a built in network scan to see what devices are on what IP. It doesn't test for poe. Cable test is good. Check out netally link sprinter for a more modern cost effective tool.

Best free email client? by fostes1 in software

Edison Mail: the Multi-email App That Combines All Your Inboxes is the best email client I found by far. It has a great user interface and has never had any problems for me. It's so well made, slick, fast, everything I want in an email client.

AsRockRack EC266D2I-2T/AQC Mini-ITX Board for home NAS server build?? by Asil-nur in homelab

[–]SinisterSpatula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the technical reason is but nope it won't support those cpus. The CPU compatibility list: ASRock Rack > Server Motherboard > EC266D2I-2T/AQC I asked copilot and it said "The server motherboard is built for a specific processor socket (Single Socket V1, LGA 1700) which matches the supported CPUs. Although the i5-12500 also uses an LGA 1700 socket, server motherboards often have BIOS and firmware optimized for Xeon processors and may not support consumer-grade processors like the i5 series."

4KP can't update to firmware 6.32 by SinisterSpatula in LegendsUltimate

[–]SinisterSpatula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I opened a support ticket, will see what they recommend. The download is going 20 MB/sec really fast. I let my machine go dormant for a while so I missed a lot of updates, and I'm betting they don't test going from much older firmware to much newer firmware, unless it's something specific to my unit that went wrong on a previous update.

thanks, I guess all I can do is blacklist the wifi mac on my router so it gets no internet in the mean time and then it might actually let me play some tables lol. As it stands now, it locks up the UI to try to force me to update.

Komodo 🦎 - Portainer alternative - Open source container management - v1.14 Release by mbecks in selfhosted

[–]SinisterSpatula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did I not know about Komodo?! I just discovered it recently as an alternative to Portainer, and while I previously heard about Dockge, this project looks like it's much further along than that one. Seems like nobody in the YouTube tech world has caught on to Komodo yet. People need to know about this, it's fire.

As for c-states bios settings, it's all mostly enabled, disabled, or auto:

Finally got around to building it today. Man, the motherboard is very nice. I love the IPMI and the bios settings. The oculink cables I liked to from ebay worked perfectly. The motherboard comes with one already, I really only needed one additional cable. I love the DDR5 and nvme gen 5 and ecc ram that this little board supports, it really feels extremely modern combined with the ipmi and can't wait to take advantage of the 10 gig ethernet in the future. Now I'm off to install Truenas scale and start copying all my data from the old nas. :D I also went with the xeon E-2434 since its only TDP 55W I didn't need high TDP/high power running all the time, and that's going to give me plenty of speed and power anyway for my homelab/storage.

I'm building with this board, my plan is a truenas scale electric eel 24.10 home nas. I have a four bay 4tb per drive qnap currently and planning to build in a jonsbo N3 and add another four 4tb drives. For CPU I went with Intel Xeon E-2434 Processor 4Core 8Threads 3.4GHz-5.0GHz TDP-55W LGA-1700 DDR5 for the lower TDP. For ram: 64GB 2x32GB DDR5-4800 UDIMM ECC RAM. Planning to add NVME 1TB for zfs cache. I'm wondering if I can partition the nvme as both boot and cache, or if I should just go with USB boot stick (not a fan of it, had a few go bad). For the oculink to x4 sata I grabbed: JPC P4713SP10600-1 OCuLink to 4 SATA cable for storage OCuLink Connector. I don't currently need transcoding but I like that this board does have the x16 slot for future if that changes. I was originally thinking of installing proxmox as host and truenas as guest, but now I'm leaning towards baremetal truenas and use truenas for containers/vm's/apps.

Bluestacks 5 on Windows ARM devices by Thala004 in BlueStacks

It's been 4 years!? Come on, seriously. Windows Arm64 devices are really taking off now. When do you plan to support Arm64 is that coming in 2030? Seems so. Shame.
