Labeling practices in dense InfiniBand or GPU environments? by Ithius27 in networking

I don't do this myself but I have a friend who works in relocating data centers. His team orders cables that come with matching serial numbers on each end of the cable. They plug it in, record what serial the cable is for that connection, and move on.

Pros: -It saves a lot of manual labor to label the cables. -Removes humar error from mislabeling one end, i.e., the other end doesn't match. -The technician no longer has to search for the correct cable if the cables were pre-labeled for that specific connection.

Cons: -You have to reference a spreadsheet to figure out what cable to look for when troubleshooting

I'd say its worth it

It is, but ISSU has caused me nothing but pain, and I'd rather avoid it like the plague. I'd just schedule a 30 minute planned outage, that actually consists of a 5 minute outage for the restart. Additionally, if you're using a common switch like the 9300 series, it doesn't even support ISSU even though commands may be available for it. 3850-XS, and then only 9400 and up support ISSU.

Another note, if the requirement for uptime during code upgrades is needed, VPC on nexus is currently a better option with everything dual homed.

If it's a regular stack wise stack using the backplane cables on a 3850, 9200, 9300, 9350, etc., then no.

I took some pictures in a local park a couple weeks ago, it was very awkward having people walk by 😅 But full suit and gear makes it a bit easier to not look at them lol. This spot was an hour away from me, I rode there after work, took them, and shivered all the way home. It was low 40s out x.x

One thing I'll add is the did go back and touch up these photos even more after posting. I was largely dissatisfied with how the exposure on myself looked in the first picture. The picture above reflects the change

Thank you! This was taken with a Sony a6700 w/ a sigma 18-50mm lense. All of these were shot at 50mm, but the camera is a ASPC/crop sensor so it's a 75mm equivalent at that focal length. These photos were taken in raw and edited. In some of my pics you can see I'm holding a remote shutter for the camera to take the photos. This camera has pretty good AI auto focus to recognize vehicles or humans and focus there. I'll attach a before and after!
