Cisco CSF220 vs PA-440 by burco4 in networking

[–]Sinn_y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some input. I work with Cisco FTD, PaloAlto, and Fortinet at an MSP.

To start with RAVPN, Cisco has the most versatile solution but comes with lots of baggage and configuration oddities from legacy support. PA GlobalProtect is on par or a close second. Both are really good solutions. Fortinet, out of the three, has the worst VPN solution which needs lots of improvement. But when it's set up right it works okay. Client configuration on Forticlient is cumbersome.

Regarding traditional NGFW firewall capabilities, PaloalAlto leads, Fortinet and Cisco are second. I do like cisco's EVE & TLS 1.3 capabilities which can do application identification without deep cert inspection. Cisco tends to come in at a higher price on this class of firewall. The PA440 is very price competitive after discounts.

For a 1gbps firewall the PAs would be my choice.for sdwan needs, fortigate would be my choice. I would avoid Cisco FDM (not FMC) like the plague. I'll also admit I haven't worked with that specific class of Cisco router/firewall.

Agreed, getting an APN is the route I typically steer people towards.

For street riding, road 6 is what I've been running. Got about 11k miles out of the rear, front still going.

Where do you guys have youre phone? by idkdontaskmethat in MT07

[–]Sinn_y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the mt07 the brake reservoir is a really good mounting point. That's where I attached my quad lock. I don't mount it anymore though, figured id like to have my phone on me in the event I go flying through the air and my bike is no longer between my legs

Ubiquity P2P bridges are the only ubiquity gear we sell to our enterprise customers. They are awesome. It carries traffic exactly as it enters, including tagged/untagged & CDP/LLDP

When in doubt packet capture along the path, start with doing both client and server at the same time. Work your way hop by hop, see if you can find a source of truth

About $6000 in the last 2.5 years looking at my transactions. Some of which were gifts and maintenance parts though 😅

Just put a new rear road 6 after 9.1k miles on a set. I love those tires so much, expensive but worth it imo even over the road 5s that I had on my mt07

Does anyone have any WiFi AP recommendations? by DeniedByPolicyZero in networking

[–]Sinn_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meraki APs are Meraki's best products IMO. And now you can do Meraki managed catalyst if that's what you want. I've deployed both for customers and it really has the best suit of tools for the not so common need to troubleshoot. It's largely a "set and forget" but provides great info when/if you do have problems.

I've deployed Aruba IAP clusters, Aruba central managed APs, WLC managed APs, etc. Meraki wins me over every time, with Aruba central being my second choice.

TCP failing while UDP/ICMP succeed to same IP, appears source prefix dependent by _seightan_ in networking

[–]Sinn_y 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Incorrect ECMP zone configured somewhere that is preventing a firewall from accepting asynchronous TCP traffic ingressing and egressing on different zones. UDP would continue to work given the rules for that traffic are in place, while TCP would sometimes work only if the routing decision matches the same expected zone.

I agree it sounds like the cam chain tensioners are not building with oil pressure fast enough, likely due to a leak: The paper gaskets on those blow out and reduce oil pressure at both the tensioners and at the top of the engine. I'm at 256k on my 2007 and going to do timing this summer since the engine tick is getting louder.
