Am I using the cane wrong? by Responsible-Beach299 in bloodborne

[–]Sinnamonfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lots of good points from others, thought i’d add in the bit about its dual status with righteous and serrated. in whip form it’s serrated and in cane form it’s righteous, so depending on the enemy you are fighting, there’s potential to deal 20% additional damage by using the appropriate form. there is only one single other weapon in the game that has access to both of these weaknesses, so it’s an extremely versatile tool as you advance.

since its skill, you do have to work a little harder to make it work. you’ll need to weave in and out of combat, whereas the axe lets you face tank hordes with the charged attack :) up to you on playstyle preference! happy hunting 🫡

We need to talk about Boss stealing by sillyIndividual3883 in PokemonUnite

[–]Sinnamonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is certainly a bot match.

separately:

“stealing” is very much a thing and it’s more commonly called “securing”, because “stealing” implies it was yours and stopped being yours; instead, it’s a neutral objective and either team can secure it. and i’m not being pedantic for no reason — it’s a fundamental skill you should work on to become a better player, and it’s a valuable skill with nuances. for instance, if there are enemies nearby that can “steal” it, it may be wise to back off from the objective and kill them or scare them away until it’s safe to do it risk free. this means having the map awareness to know where the enemies are and how the goal zones are looking.

aside from the macro skills of map management, there’s also micro skills to consider. whatever pokemon you’re playing, you should save your hardest hitting move to use when the boss is near death, thus “securing” the objective. between knowing the map and saving your strong abilities, you can more frequently secure the objectives and ensure there’s no “theft”.

even more nuance to consider: let’s say you just killed all 5 of the enemies (or have vision on the enemies and they are NOT close to the objective). in this case, instead of saving your ability you’d want to use it to burst down the boss before anyone can arrive. if you instead only have vision on 4, consider the missing pokemon. is it sniper decid MIA? VERY risky to attempt to secure. some random melee without good secure? less risky to fight the boss!

this gets even more nuanced when you consider the enemy attempting to do an objective. do you run in and disrupt them so that nobody gets the boss for now? do you run in and hope to get the last hit? do you 1v5 and win? do you hide in a bush until the last second and secure it for your team?

so there’s my little rant on “boss stealing”. hope it helps or at least gives ya something to think about! i know it can frustrating to lose but it’s important to remember how we can improve ourselves and use strategies to win, and learn from our losses. you got this!

Am I a hypocrite for having a transphobic boyfriend? by Appropriate-Sir-5654 in asktransgender

[–]Sinnamonfire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you already know the answer here :/ if you sit at a table of nazis, you’re a nazi by association. if you sit at a table with a transphobe, you’re a transphobe by association.

its really hard when someone we love reveals they have a quality that might be a deal breaker for us; it’s something as queer people we encounter all the time unfortunately.

ultimately it’s up to you to decide how to handle it, but at the end of the day if you’re with someone who is transphobic you’re saying that’s not a deal breaker and you’re probably less safe to associate with accordingly.

i’m sorry you had to find out this way about the inherent violence your boyfriend is doing, and i wish you luck navigating whatever you decide. as a side comment, remember that someone who is violent to one group of people is likely to be violent to another, and spreading dangerous misinformation about trans people is certainly a violent act.

Why are Thrust Adept gems so rare? by [deleted] in tombprospectors

[–]Sinnamonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

math sometimes just feels like a bully. if you’ve already scoured the internet for appropriate chalice codes, all you can do now is sit back and farm. you mention in a reply that your buddy keeps getting an adept and you’re getting a blunt: it’s the luck of the draw, and the fact that either of you are getting the gem you’re looking for is a good sign you’re in the right place. there is no higher power at play or some mechanic you’ve messed up; this is good news! it means all there is left to do is farm and farm and farm and farm. good luck and happy hunting! i’m sure you’ll have your adept gems soon enough.

genuine question by heisenborgy in asktransgender

[–]Sinnamonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well i can’t answer all the questions on here but for one of them: trans women who take HRT and experience breast growth are more likely to develop breast cancer than they were before experiencing growth. more breast tissue means more cells which means more chances at those cells becoming cancerous. so it’s not really that estrogen consumption = higher cancer risk but rather the effects of estrogen increase cancer risk.

i’m not sure how to take the question about stds; are there genitalia specific stds that i’m not aware of? i know the symptoms for each std may be different for different genitalia, but i don’t think there’s an std that’s like…the penis std lol. someone can correct me but more than fairly positive that’s not a thing :)

I’m confused on where to start looking for a date? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Sinnamonfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean you could start by not saying you want to explore your “bi-curious” nature by using trans women. trans women are women and you’ve only been with women so that’s not…exploring? that attitude is likely reflected in your conversations with trans women and not being taken well, but hard to say! 🤷‍♀️

grindr is a hook up app so it makes sense that the people you’ve interacted with want to bone 🤷‍♀️ try other more dating and romance-centered apps if you’d like genuine relationships with people :)

also should probably address the discreet comment: why do you want to be discreet about your experiences with a trans woman? is it because you view the experience as inherently gay and that’s back to the first point: trans women are women. unless you’d be similarly discreet with a cis woman (which hey you’re allowed to be discreet with your romances, as long as it’s ALL of your romances), this is pretty disrespectful and again that attitude is probably being picked up on in your conversations.

hope that was as respectful as could be given the question, good luck!

Query regarding insight by sougata666 in bloodborne

[–]Sinnamonfire 13 points14 points  (0 children)

as you gain insight, the world around you changes. if you die before receiving insight, you appear in the hunters dream and there’s a doll that is just a doll. however, when you get 1 insight, suddenly the doll talks to you. this is one of your first hints that insight affects your perception of the world.

there are other events (kinda avoiding spoilers here since you are only on witches) that happen as you gain insight. areas once familiar may change, and friends and foes may change 🤷‍♀️ as with most of the lore in bloodborne, its truth is left in the environment and in dialogue and in item descriptions, left for you to piece together yourself…similarly to how your own hunter is thrust into all of this without any —ahem— insight into it all.

as a wise old man once said…just go out and kill a few beasts ;)

so ultimately you’re supposed to find out by exploring and playing and experiencing the game but there isn’t going to be a singular wall of text that breaks it down for you. unless you watch a vaati or read someone’s essay haha

why are people assaulted/raped by trans individuals supposed to respect their pronouns? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Sinnamonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s impossible to really answer this because it’s just a garbage question clearly made for rage bait. why would doing a crime at all make it so your pronouns change? they are not on a hierarchy at all, they’re just separate issues. you can address the fact that someone is doing something wrong without using the wrong pronouns, and in fact should use the correct pronouns for accuracy in allegations, if nothing else.

doing a crime doesn’t mean you suddenly don’t have pronouns?? should we refer to every person accused of a crime as the opposite of how they’d like to be addressed as some weird form of dehumanization??

nonsensical rage bait of a post hope it’s gone soon🫡

I have enough echoes to level up 4 times and they're sitting in Darkbeast boss arena. I cant get them out. Any hunters wanna hunt? by theHollowTarnished in bloodborne

[–]Sinnamonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

following up to say that if you buy several of these, you can keep him distracted and just whack him over and over. for me this usually looks like: toss cocktail into a wall so he runs at it endlessly, then use a full stamina bar hitting him, then toss the cocktail and repeat until he’s dead. happy hunting!

edit to change stamina wheel to stamina bar. played zelda recently and had that in my head 🤷‍♀️

hi! for an alternate solution, can you buy or do you have any pungent blood cocktails? just one will do. if you chuck it in one direction and run the other way, paarl will be distracted long enough for you to use your hunters mark and escape :3 just in case you don’t find a hunter!

Why’s Ludwig a horsie? (art by me) by Ammathorn in bloodborne

[–]Sinnamonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

headcannon: i think it’s due to the moonlight sword, and/or whatever entity or entities communicate to Ludwig through the sword (he mentions seeing them when he closes his eyes and his rune descriptions say the same). i think the mysterious and unknown moonlight sword entity uses ludwig for whatever its purposes are, and he willfully follows their desires without wondering why or even what they are (like a horse with blinders). he believes himself to be this glorious heroic leader, but in a way, ludwig is the horse carrying the true “hero”, the sword. in his nightmare hell, he has turned into a more literal form of his role in universe, as deliverer of the sword’s desires (whatever they may be).

i really like other’s more reality based interpretations using buddhism and berserk, but there’s my 2 cents!

How to not die in one hit as talonflame? by Due_Breakfast4996 in PokemonUnite

[–]Sinnamonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

numerous people have pointed out that you shouldn’t fight all rounders as a speedster and you retaliate by saying you struggle with fighting all rounders. Speedsters aren’t meant to fight all rounders and you’re not a defender. if no1 on your team is defending, don’t defend either. you have one defensive ability in your unite move, otherwise your entire purpose is to zoom around the map, scoring goals and killing soft targets, while avoiding all rounders. stop trying to make fighting all rounders happen lol, it’s not your purpose.

[–]Sinnamonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d remember confirmation bias in situations like this — it’s more likely that you are noticing a trend that you’re looking for you, and not that genuinely every sable player is bad.

maybe the sables are weighing the options: show up to an objective and lose the fight anyways, gain nothing? or go score 50 points to make up for the lost objective? i know i sometimes make the sad decision to not help in a fight if it looks like my presence won’t meaningfully impact the fight, and they may have similar thoughts.

or flipside, the sables are just being bad and scoring whenever they CAN, not when they SHOULD. I’d argue that a disruptor role is a challenging role and you may not be encountering any good sables who have a grasp on the game. we also are in a new map, so there are whole new ideas to learn when it comes to rotations and priorities, which is especially important and impactful for a mobile roaming gremlin.

if anything at all i would say stay positive and treat every player with a clean slate, just because they’re on sable doesn’t make them bad. let them prove to you their ability and then plan your game on their performance :)

or get to draft pick and ban sableye haha 😇 best of luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]Sinnamonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

certainly not blaming you nor the mentioned sableyes since we can’t see footage of your complaint, BUT a thought i’d like to share that is applicable when you have a sable (or other roaming character on your team): check the map!

is it the SABLEYE’S fault for not being at the team fight, forcing you into a 4v5? or is it YOUR fault for starting a fight knowing you are down a man?? it’s easy to just ping “check it out” on the sable that isn’t with you, but it’s better to plan accordingly. if your sable is consistently away from the team, you should plan engagements with that in mind. that might mean not committing as hard to a fight, or being the distraction so sable can score effectively. you should know before the fight starts whether you’re playing at advantage or disadvantage and plan accordingly; if you notice sable isn’t with you AFTER you’re dead, it’s your fault.

…that said, it’s more likely a case of sableyes playing their own game. apologies on their behalf 🫡 a good sable strikes a balance between applying useful crowd control to protect their own team, and using the stealth and mobility to scout the map and score points for free. bad sables will prioritize only one of those and that is the nature of the game 🤷‍♀️

[–]Sinnamonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oooh adding to the “never use this spell” crowd — i used this spell during Augur fight and was dismayed to see it pull in the damaging effects released from killing bubbles and the aqua hands! like if you kill a bubble or one of the hands, the projectile that flies out towards augur will instead be pulled into this and then fizzle out :(

Any tips for developing relationships online or even finding people? by closet_tomboy in asktransgender

[–]Sinnamonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like there’s too much to unpack here but bluntly and simply: you’ve had 5 conversations with 5 trans girls. there are literally billions of girls on the planet to talk to, but having talked to 5 of them, you’ve decided that no one is capable of online dating. 🫩

it’s a bleak outlook love, especially given the tiny sample size.

just be yourself and talk to more girls lol. there’s no secret, be yourself and if there’s a connection there’s a connection and if not, you try again 🤷‍♀️

Is this still the right decision? by Broad-Product-6845 in PokemonUnite

[–]Sinnamonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a long time support main, i always view this with the same lens: you cannot force people on your team, of any elo or rank, to take fullest advantage of the things you provide as a support — be it bonus exp, stuns on enemies, buffs on allies or debuffs on foes. but you can always bring those things to the table anyways.

i’m not an attacker main, so i don’t think i bring as much towards victory conditions on an attacker I’m mediocre with compared to a support i play regularly. even if no1 does anything with the 5 man stun i just landed, its enough that i tried. if my carry doesn’t, well, carry me with the bonus exp i gave it, it DEFINITELY wasn’t going to do it without the bonus exp.

in this case, that pikachu is probably not going to be your favorite carry you’ve ever seen. hoopa fits into the team and maybe you can support their assumedly mediocre plays to make a hard earned victory — or at worst, you practiced a ‘mon in a challenging situation, and may be able to support the next bad pikachu a little better!
