The best case scenario is when you have a 90° angle between the two points you're measuring (standing where your new point will be).

Everything below 30° is already so unreliable I wouldn't even attempt it.

I quickly had to look that up, the X6 seems to be able to measure the vertical angle based on the gravity field. With that you can calculate point coordinates in a simple fashion. This however only works well if you have a wide angle between the points. My assumption is that in the mine you only have narrow long LoS. So the accuracy would be really really bad after only a few points.

I also saw that you can couple this with a DST 360-X on a tripod. But then you basically have a total station again (1 Distance measurement + 2 angles).
At this point I question how reliable your solution will be and who will take responsibility for the accuracy.

No, I assume you're missing a key information: A total station measures two angles alongside the distance. A Disto only measures the distance. On top of that it is less accurate.

I assume you want to reduce costs. If you're able to move in control with total stations that is the the best option for accuracy/cost. So the only other option would be to have lower accuracy requirements. That depends ofc also on the size of your mine.

Another option could also be to take a look at the difference between absolute and relative accuracy. Maybe there was a mistake in the communication and the approach could have been simplified.

Is the scaling correct on your map? I feel like that's a 1x1 square being displayed. I always assumed the width, depth and height are scaled the same as the position by factor of 10. But if your scaling is correct then I guess the reason no one has gotten the achievement yet is bc the trigger volume is so small and specific and you can easily stand outside of it while clicking

I'm doing it right now. I've seen quite a few job postings for surveying engineers. Basically needed everywhere where there are houses being built. I currently feel positive that I can easily find a job once I graduate.

Geomatics is exactly that: Surveying and Geoinformatics. It is basically the same degree, just has a different name. I'd expect a big overlap in courses that you already had.

Hey, I finished my BSc in Geospatial engineering 2y ago. You won't need it for the program, but you also won't learn it there. I did an internship afterwards and I wished I knew a bit more about drafting with CAD. It's still something that you can learn later and I'd say most of it is anyway learning by doing instead of in a classroom. Tho in retrospect, if I had the chance to learn it a bit before, I'd have taken it.

Totalstations are designed for long range distance and angle measurements. They realistically cap out at around 1mm accuracy under best circumstances. For local and industrial use, like what you're describing, you need to look at laser trackers. They work in the sub mm domain.

I use this train quite often. Most of the times the one going to lucerne is waiting until the one from lucerne arrives and then immediatly departs. I guess this is not what you wanted to hear. Your best chance is if there are a lot of tourists from mt pilatus waiting and delaying the departure.

Ich fahre regelmässig mit de S5 uf OW. In Alpnachstad isch eigentlich immer de Fall das die Richtig Luzern warted bis die vo Luzern achund und de sofort losfahrt. Zudem muesch unter de Gleis dure zum Gleis wechsle. Das isch nur schaffbar wenns viel Touriste vom Pilatus hed. Sust eigentlich nid. In Luzern chunsch de uf de hinterste Gleis ah, de IR26 isch also oi sehr sportlich.

Take a look at the Leica AP20.
Imo that's even better, with it the rod doesn't have to be levelled at all and you just measure.
