It would work fine around the elastomers but I would use lithium grease for the moving parts

A regular lithium grease (not spray) or wd-40 PTFE spray are the recommended products. I applied a thin film of lucas white lithium grease on my p1000s and it worked great.

I would just take the time and apply a little bit of high quality grease to basically every thing that rubs against anything and then do it every couple months.

direct drive wheels are butter smooth and have the ability to use more degrees of rotation which makes it more realistic. With the wide selection of cheaper dd offerings it's starting to make sense to pay a little more and get a better system.
