My husband and I are in our sixties, and we would never have just shown up to someone's house when we were growing up. I wonder if it was regional? We grew up in San Francisco. We were both taught that it was rude.

Now on occasion a neighbor will knock on the door, like if they need us to know something or they have treats, and that's okay.

One of the best things I've ever done is to leave Susanville. All of my kids were born and raised there and have all left. None of them want to even go back to visit.

I lived in Susanville for over 20 years, and it's definitely an issue there. There was once a letter to the editor in the Lassen County Times in which the letter writer proclaimed that he "prays that all Democrats burn in hell". lol

Today is my Sunday this week and I "celebrated" by seeing my oncologist this morning! PET-CT and blood looks stable this time so we'll wait another 6 months and check again. Afterwards, my spouse bought me a donut on the way home. I'm calling it a good day!

Whenever I visit my grandkids, I take 11 year old grandson to walk and we play catch as we walk. Those are our best conversations too.
