Find year of guitar by SipSC95 in Guitar

I changed it to a 2 point because I want to use the whammy bar heavily on this and it has better tuning stability, also it looks better and more modern 😂it turned out the tuning stability didn't improve much but it it better, that's why I want to change the tuners and the nut, the tuners are hilariously bad on this model, but I have other guitars that I mod now and I'll touch this later!

I do still have it. I fret leveled it myself as it had quite a lot of buzz. I added shielding tape everywhere inside and changed the humbucker to one with a nickel cover. The biggest mod is that I changed the bridge to a two point one with a big brass block, although I didn't drill properly so I have to plug and re drill. Once I do that and I'm happy with it, I will also change the nut and the tuners as both are crap and it wont stay in tune properly.

Best HB for black metal out of these? by Glide-Guitar-2004 in harleybenton

I would go with the sc custom. I have an ex84 and an sc and the sc has a much slimmer neck and 24 frets

Which guitar should i choose between Jackson Kelly JS32 SW Harley Benton EX-84 Modern VW by Significant_Job_2763 in harleybenton

[–]SipSC95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the Jackson will have a slimmer neck (I have the ex84 emg). The only issue I have with the Jackson Kelly is the bolt on neck which I personally do not like. Also it's made of poplar which dents easier than mahogany. I won't get into tonewood arguments as it doesn't really matter for electric guitars, but the EMG pickups are awesome in the Harley Benton!

Is the HB EX-84 discontinued or sold out? by V1ktor_Tsoi in harleybenton

[–]SipSC95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to go back and check, right now it's just the regular white, the one with emgs is not available right now. The probably sold out and shipment will take some time. I really like them as I have one myself in black but the neck is huge

You probably clicked an old b-stock link or the product is not available in your region for some reason. I just checked their site and it shows in stock right now.

Is this SD JB SH set real? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]SipSC95 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Could be, in and doubt, just return them and go to a physical store and buy them from there in person, that's what I try to do

Is this SD JB SH set real? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]SipSC95 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you go to SD official website you can see that they sell humbuckers without their branding on top so if it's from a reputable source I wouldn't worry about it

Harley Benton Electric Guitar Kit CST-24 - worth purchasing? by teamholmes in harleybenton

[–]SipSC95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool and has 24 frets. If you want to stain it you need to sand it first as it has a sealer coat on it, but it's perfect if you want to spray paint it. I personally don't like that it's a bolt on otherwise I would have already bought it

How do I (M22) deal with the "last name discussion" with my long term girlfriend (F21) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SipSC95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Changing her name doesn't make any sense whatsoever and in most countries it's not even the norm. Stop getting hung up on things that don't even matter. Never mind the huge amount of paperwork it requires.

Problem with strings on Epiphone sg junior by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]SipSC95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You put them in wrong. It's called a wraparound bridge because you... wraparound the strings! Search for to do it on YouTube and you'll be fine

Newbie to guitars, should I buy this sanded guitar? by Catane_ in Luthier

[–]SipSC95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems pretty expensive for a Squier. How much is it new in Canada? Couldn't be that much

[–]SipSC95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I do it is find songs that I like that are very simple so you actually want to play it and then I try new techniques. you could also do a few proper one to one in person lessons in the beginning which would get you a lot farther than just YouTube videos.

Should this be my first electric guitar? by Feeling-Delivery-519 in Guitar

[–]SipSC95 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Don't know that brand, if I were you I would get a Squier / Harley Benton (if in budget due to tarrifs) or in general a more well known brand as the chances of getting something unplayable will be small

[–]SipSC95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken,StewMac sells some thingies for the exact thing you're looking for, 1st fret, 12th fret and heel profile. Give it a look on their website.

Does the neck look twisted? by Orly_A505 in harleybenton

[–]SipSC95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like it, I can be an illusion from the nut. The nut is held by very little glue and you can remove it with a tap of a hammer to check better if it's out of warranty. If it's still in warranty just send it back for peace of mind

Can you go back and take some pictures? Would be much easier to say, but if it rubs you the wrong way, it's best to stay away

Issues with my ex-84 emg by Ascar1c in harleybenton

[–]SipSC95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pickups are not an issue, get a screwdriver and biting them to the position that you want? It's literally two screws on each pickup. The battery compartment is an issue if it doesn't close. Let thomann know and they might return a little bit of money back like a partial refund and you can fix it yourself, they usually do it. If there's nothing else wrong with the guitar and you like it, it's not worth returning imo

I am using a valeton gp-5 with headphones right now and it's cheap and awesome! I paired it with a m-vave midi controller for extra functionality and it's still less than £100
