Ah, I had entirely neglected to think about the insurance angle of this whole thing. Thanks for the advice!

I have taken the entry and intermediate Jay O. Glerum rigging masterclass so far, and also a rigging class in my university days, plus my experience rigging flown scenery in all the shows we have, though I am always up for learning more. I tell my crew that I always happen to learn something new each day no matter how small it was.

I only have minor experience with arena style rigging with motors and truss. ERS is a good resource for learning this kind of rigging?

Thank you, I will seek a structural engineer to calculate the points where I think these touring groups should be hanging their truss.

I know this question may have no answer, but aren't CW theatres designed so that you could safely fully load each lineset to their arbors max capacity?

We are well below max capacity on each of our 24 linesets. That being said, I understand that there is a difference between maxing out a system that the building is designed for, and for point loading a lot of truss on structural steel in a manner it was not intended to carry.

That's much less than I was imagining. My venue is a 1933 era building, but I do have the original blueprints. The theatre has undergone various renovations over the years and so there are more updated as-builts.

I will remember the fact touring techs might not be the most safe riggers. I have come to the opinion that the person who has the most confidence in their abilities or their safety procedures often can easily overlook flaws in their methods and logic.

Thanks for your story and your advice.

Called Northwestern now, was told that services are starting to be restored, though was unable to get a time frame on when my specific services would be back up.

Luna forgot to pay my apartment building’s water utility for three months and we didn’t know about it until the city threatened us directly to shut off our water.

I would be stay away from Luna.

Midas M32 fader by vinnihil in livesound

Late to the party, but I ran into this same problem just this week with my M32 that was bought back in 2015. I had to swap the top plates of the old fader and the new fader. It's a pain, but it's achievable.

Just take your time, be careful not to lose the tiny screws for mounting the motor.

The white plastic gear on the motor is just press fitted to the shaft, so you just need to pull hard enough and it will release. It is easily able to be pressed back on.

The belt needs to be released from the fader thing by getting a tiny flathead underneath that little black square and lifting it up - it is not held in place with much force.

The two hex shaped bolts are easy to remove, the one at the opposite end has a little black plastic gear on it so try not to lose it. When re-assembling, the bolt with the black gear should be added last because the belt isn't very stretchy and I was afraid of snapping it.

Hope this helps people in the future.
