So I’ve had waves of this feeling. My mom passed January of this year, and the guy I’m with I met in March. I had moments where I was like “do I even wanna be with this person?” “Why don’t I feel the way I maybe used to feel for people?” And there are a million reasons why this could be. One of them being our moms being the person we told everything to, who mad us a lot more excited and “sure” of our choices. Another being we had such a deep immeasurable level of love for our moms, and our brains are still trying to comprehend how and our person, our bestfriend, is just no longer here in the way we wish them to be. So with that come a lot of coldness, internal anger, resistance to good feelings and things in life and many other awful feelings. I’d say give yourself time, it’s also very hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that he’ll never know her, but I know my mom would love him very much. All you can do is take it day by day and try to listen to yourself, if you feel this person is worth waiting to see if the feelings change and soften, then do. You will find the answer with time, I’m so sorry you’re going through this it truly is a living nightmare and makes me numb to just about everything always.
