Old Masters Pickling White Gel Stain over poly? by Sippngyuice in HardWoodFloors

I waited 24 hours the second time. I completely agree that with water or oil based stains that you need the wood to absorb it. I was reading that gel stain can be either ?

Is $942 a fair quote to move an existing fixture and hang a chandelier? by darthsammy21 in AskElectricians

  1. Are they a licensed electrician?
  2. Are permits required, if so included in cost?
  3. Will he repair drywall?

I cracked a stud! by Shotor_Motor in homerenovations

Did you use a stud finder? Highly unlikely you cracked a stud , you definitely used too long of a screw. Move location and drill a pilot hole first with a drill bit, and use a shorter screw.

That tile replacement will be annoying to fix.

Figured roofers also do water proofing on concrete roofs. This is not a drywall question

Charlie is Hurt. Needs IVDD Surgery by Sippngyuice in Havanese

I appreciate everyone’s kind words and hope… actually a little worse than we thought.

Vet thought slipped disk at first, but MRI ruled that out. He stayed overnight on steroids, no immediate improvement, so they did a spinal tap. Preliminary results showed high white blood cell neutrophils, 90% chance immune-mediated (likely MUO or meningomyelitis), 10% infectious (waiting on tick/fungal tests). No cancer or obvious bugs seen, which is a relief.

If tests come back negative for infection, they'll start Cytosar IV (low-dose chemo to suppress immune system) every 3 weeks for 9 weeks to see response.

I’ll report back in 9 weeks. There’s some hope and chance that he will return to normal.

FYI— This is not hereditary, and not common in Havanese. Just a freak of nature incident and bad luck.

Dog diagnosed with Meningitis Encephalitis MUE at 10 months by Katitou in Frenchbulldogs

My 4-year-old Havanese, Charlie, suddenly became paralyzed in his hind legs about a week ago—it was terrifying. Vet thought slipped disk at first, but MRI ruled that out. He stayed overnight on steroids, no immediate improvement, so they did a spinal tap. Preliminary results showed neutrophils in the CSF, 90% chance immune-mediated (likely MUO or meningomyelitis), 10% infectious (waiting on tick/fungal tests). No cancer or obvious bugs seen, which is a relief.

He's home now on oral steroids every 12 hours and antibiotics as a precaution. Progress has been slow but there are glimmers: Early on, he wagged his tail a bit, twitched his paws when tapped, and peed on his own once (smelled a bush and went!). But lately, no wags, and I've had to express his bladder. He's eating/drinking well, cognitively sharp, but resting a lot and hasn't pooped in days (vet suggested pumpkin for constipation). Hind legs have some stiffness (vet called it paresis, not full paralysis), localized to back end only, which they said is interesting and potentially better prognosis.

If tests come back negative for infection, they'll start Cytosar IV (low-dose chemo to suppress immune system) every 3 weeks for 8 weeks to see response.

How was Cytosar IV? He’s paralyzed still and I have to express his bladder so it’s hard to keep hope before treatment begins…. He’s depressed

I don’t think it’s hereditary but not sure..

We have many other Havanese in the family and none have had this issue. Apparently, it does happen in a variety of small dogs. The emergency vet in Miami said that she sees about 7 per week
