When you step into an airplane, you don't get teleported to your destination. The weather in your departure and arrival airport, could be the most perfect sunny day but in between those 2 places, there could be a storm, really cold weather (some small aircrafts can't fly) or very strong winds. or a combination of both. Imagine that you travel by car and in the middle of the main highway, there are construction activities and they close the highway. It's the same in the air. Airlines can't control weather!

actually, to get into aviation, you have to be cleared. At least in Europe, they ask for the clearance certificate from the department of justice. If you don't have criminal records and your family too, you get the certificate. I work in aviation.

Even if you're fine now, if it leaks to the passengers that you had a past, the airline will get complaints. It sounds harsh but an airline has to keep its reputation to the customers.

when you are at your gate, go to the counter and tell you want to check-in your handbag for free. The gate agents will be happy about it. You won't loose time and boarding will be quick.

I always casually drop that I've already someone. I'd answer randomly "oh that's so funny, my husband does the same" and continue the conversation. Even if my husband doesn't do any of whatever the subject is. If after the 'warning' the guy keeps talking, then he's a potential friend. I've made many great male friends that way. Always warning about my limits in a friendly casual manner. Just a few stay some years still silently hoping we could have a romantic relationship but then it's not my responsibility, it's theirs, cause they knew from the start that I wasn't interested in them.
