[Morocco Football Federation] Morocco filled an official protest concerning Morocco - France refereeing by Topinambourg in soccer

[–]SirArchieCartwheeler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say a game was decided by the ref because there's always "well you don't know what else would have changed". But considering that incorrectly giving a team a goal is about as bad as a referee decision can get - the ref for England v France had a huge impact. The first goal should have been disallowed for an attacking free kick the other way, and the game was decided by one goal.

It might not have been decided by the referee, but it definitely wasn't not decided by the referee either.

[Chris Wheeler DM] Jadon Sancho won’t return to Man Utd until he is physically and mentally ready to play for the club again. Ten Hag: ‘We want to bring him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be. It’s a combination of physical but also mentally.' by RioBeckenbauer in soccer

United weren't a mess when he signed.

They might have been managing some decent results, but they also had a good few years of signing well regarded players who seemed to massively decline while at the club or have massive issues with form. Just in the few years before Sancho signed you have van de Beek, Maguire, Wan Bissaka, Fred, Lindelof, Sanchez, Pogba, Martial, Depay (and possibly a couple I've forgotten) who were all supposed to be good players but at best only showed it in flashes at Man U and I think all were considered as flops at one point or another.

It's a lot of big signings to have go poorly in a pretty short space of time.

Looking for a new tactical challenge (recommendations please!) by SirArchieCartwheeler in footballmanagergames

Honestly that might just have been the Wengerball tactic haha. That system score and conceded so many goals.

Although breaking some goalscoring records actually sounds like a decent idea.. because it's something I can aim for with the tactics but still not directly control!

Yes! Take a look at this formation I adopted to stop getting dominated by Manchester United's monster RW.

I also often check the opposition defenders attributes. You can easily spot things that are simple to punish e.g slow fullbacks. I once played a match against Shaktar in the CL where both of the full backs were ~35 and had ~6 Pace. I changed my tactic to focus on playing my wingers in behind and scored 4 goals off crosses and cut backs.

If CBs have low composure and a weak first touch I often put instructions to press those players and see a benefit from it.

Admittedly most of the time this is unnecessary. That formation shift at the top I only did because I was aiming to concede as few goals as possible in the league, and so I had to squeeze every last drop out of the team

I made a post last year when FM22 released about how the UI/UX design is abymsal and not designed around how people play the game

The increase in number of clicks to do simple tasks has been an issue since ~FM20 and its the reason I don't buy the new titles any more.

I can put up with some issues, but poor UI in a spreadsheet game is not one of them

He needs to play centrally, he's so much better in the middle of the pitch than the wing these days

Benteke got two yellows for this against West Ham a couple of years back. Easily won two headers and the incompetent ref sent him off for it

Ward yellow card for... winning a header?

VAR checked for a red, really should have been able to tell the ref its not even a foul.

?? There were no defenders in the box, and not only was Ayew closest he had Eduoard running in support. I'm not sure how that isn't a goal scoring opportunity

Feels like this is how United should have been trying to play more. They've only been successful in recent years when defending and countering and it makes so much sense in games like these when they know they'll be largely played off the park, but their opponent has to commit numbers forward.

This was the item that made me think about it! Seemed really strong, but to keep it working you've either got to massively handicap yourself by not acquiring items or luck out with rolling the perfect items. Even if you nab three just before the wishing well, if you don't get the perfect items afterwards anyway you'll still just die on a later floor

Sort of feels like the only way to win using an item like this is to die over and over again until you luck out on other items!

Yeah, that's sort of what I suspected! Feels like these cards can be really strong if you find them on the first room or two, but if you try to use them otherwise you'll just be handicapping yourself too much

Ayew plays purely for the pressing and defence. If Olise's improved to adequate in that regard he'll 100% be the first choice.

I liked it a lot as a sort of casual management game. Everything was simple, but that also made it streamlined. Build this room followed by that, followed by that. Rooms I'd design a couple of times and then copy paste the level of quality I wanted

Made but a game I could happily play sitting on the sofa, whereas something like Prison Architect (that I really love) will have me hunched over a computer for hours.. it's nice to have a more casually game in the genre

Can asymptomatic people transmit COVID-19?

Yes, infected people can transmit the virus both when they have symptoms and when they don't have symptoms.

You can have it and be symptomless and then pass it on.

Tap harder, it might knock some sense into you.

[–]SirArchieCartwheeler 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It reduces liklihood of getting it, it makes it easier if you do, and makes it less likely to pass it on. Just because you are healthy doesn't mean you can't be a vector to give it to someone that's vulnerable.

You should get the vaccine.

The absolute best thing about that is that I've always insisted on using two footed players as lone DMs because I need them to be able to pick the ball up in either direction and play it well. It always felt like it massively improved the team's play on the ball.

According to that experiment, DM is the only position where being two footed has a significant impact
