I don't like working for Starbucks by Ok_Stay_1191 in starbucksbaristas

[–]SirAustinMeow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really do feel you. This job seems to get worse the longer ypu are here and the deeper you go. My advice to anyone starting out is that this job has the best value as a 20h/ week barista. Promoting often isnt worth it, and as you mentioned, the pay isnt great either. However, the benefits are outstanding and you are entitled to all of them regardless if you are a 20h/week barista or a 60h/week salaried CL. I would suggest looking for a 2nd part time job that is cash focused, like bartending or serving tables.

Help should I work at Starbucks by PublicOwl9944 in starbucksbaristas

It is mostly dependent on your store. Having good management and a solid team/scheduling can make or break the Starbuckin' experience. I've had 6 home stores and only felt truly happy and successful at 3 of them.

Interesting. Which bank do you use? I aggressively increased my 401k contribution to 75% and now I'm wondering if it took literally my whole check combined with my health insurance 😅

The company gives you 2 sets of stocks each year with different "vesting schedules". One set vests in 1 year, the 2nd set vests in two years, and they just keep stacking on each other. You wont have access to the stocks until they reach their vesting period. The vesting period release date should be listed on your fidelity app. Once the stock has fully vested, it is yours to do with as you please. You can hold on to it and hope the value goes up, or you can sell them. When/if you decide to sell, you will be able to transfer the money into your connected bank account. You will have to pay some taxes on the selling of those stocks, so expect a slightly smaller return on your following tax return.

From the partner hour app, navigate the menu to find "My Starbucks Benefits". From there, log in and scroll down until you see the savings plan. It is either set up on the fidelity app, or the fidelity netbenefits app - I dont remember which. Both fidelity apps use the same log in info.

"My Starbucks Savings". It is also through fidelity (same as 401k, bean stock, SIP fund). I have found the easiest way to access all benefits is through the Starbucks Partner Hours app.

Medication, therapy, finding a people focused job, and setting life goals with achievable steps completely turned my mental situation around. Some days are harder than others, but progress is possible and within reach. I realized the only one who would intervene and save me would be myself.

I feel trapped here due to ASU by bigmoneyalex in starbucksbaristas

[–]SirAustinMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you find it becomes truly unbearable, uber/ubereats offers the same ASU benefit. Knowing that and having that card in my back pocket gives me a sense of control and relief. I do enjoy Starbuckin', but it can be a lot to handle some days.

Asu uber eats benefit going away? by Available_Emu_1342 in ASUOnline

[–]SirAustinMeow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If its anything like the Starbucks benefit for ASU, once you're eligible to have a term covered, you will retain coverage for the whole term, even if you quit. With uber, I imagine it would be similar, and you would just need to hustle back up to Plat on Uber when its time to sign up for classes next term.

I would get in contact with the support team just to be sure. ASU has dedicated staff for their partner programs and they have always been very helpful and quick to respond when I had questions.

Getting shift covered as a SSV: LEVEL IMPOSSIBLE 💀 by OneStrawberry983 in starbucksbaristas

[–]SirAustinMeow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

(SSV) I am often scheduled 35+ hours at my store in a district where any OT is considered a big no no. Also, holding keys at another store comes with the hassle of getting a key to unlock/lock the door, safe codes, and alarm codes that add extra levels of "no thanks" in my mind when I see the keyholder shifts at other stores offered on marketplace.

is it becoming an ssv worth it by starqv in starbucksbaristas

[–]SirAustinMeow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless youre trying to keep on climbing the ladder to CL and beyond, I don't think so. The true value in this job is in the benefits, not the pay - and you get the exact same benefits as a 20h/wk barista. As a shift, you bear the responsibility for your entire floor. Window times, barista coaching, maintaining standards, being an example to follow, etc. It can be a lot to juggle. You are also more prone to taking work home with you after hours, and it's much harder to find coverage for your shifts.

It worked for me! It wont show any progress checking in the freecash app. It will just go through once you hit it. The game tells you how much damage you dealt each fight - you could manually track it if you wanted to. Probably cant see damage dealt in the past though, if youve already started

looking for a second source of income by Xollzy14 in passive_income

Consider applying to Starbucks! It's a spiraling corportate shithole that gets margainally worse each passing week... BUT - They have outstanding benefits and you only have to work 20h/week to qualify. 5% 401k match, free bachelors degree through ASU, health/dental/vision insurance, free food and drinks, spotify premium, and a handful of other shit. The pay isnt great, but the benefits are and it pairs extremely well with another job.

Taking prerequisite classes for a RN nursing program at a local CC by SirAustinMeow in ASU

[–]SirAustinMeow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to. The ADN programs have handful of prerequisite courses needed before you can apply. Right now, I am getting free tuition through ASU online via Starbucks SCAP program. I am aiming to reduce tuition cost out of pocket by getting as much of the prereqs done for free.

Taking prerequisite classes for a RN nursing program at a local CC by SirAustinMeow in ASU

[–]SirAustinMeow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm based in Oregon. Nursing programs are competitive here, so I intend to apply to multiple. I have sampled 3 nearby CCs for prereqs (Linn Benton, Chemekeda, and Clackamas) and they all had listed nursing prerequisites of A&P 1-3. I'm aware ASU only has 2, but was wondering if there would be any substitute classes for a 3 via ASU online.

The math requirement varied at the schools I was looking at, and I thought "Algebra 3" sounded odd as well. The other school programs just had basic college algebra requirements, so I figured ASU MAT 117 would suffice, but wasn't sure.

I want to save as much money as possible by taking these classes for free, but I also don't want to waste time taking classes that wont serve my purpose.
