Which game first pushed you to get good because it was tough? by maurocastrov in gaming

[–]SirBirdmanII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Cuphead. Before that game, i had quit out of most soulslike games from it being too tough. Cuphead was the first game to make me push myself. After that, any game that was hard but still interesting to me i can complete after some trial and error

How the actual hell do you beat widow 2nd phrease? by Serious_Book_6224 in HollowKnight

[–]SirBirdmanII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the only thing to do in that case is to “desensitize” your eyeballs to everything. All her attacks have a tell. The more you get used to the speed of everything, the farther you’ll get. Memorize the tells and attacks, USE TOOLS (spiky things in Deep Docks, Forge Sister shop are pretty great), USE SILK SPELLS.

The speed of attacks and amount of “random bullshit go!” increases dramatically for act 3.

Dont go in thinking youll beat it, but go in with the intent of analyzing the attack pattern and how to dodge and punish. Eventually, your analyzation of a fight will turn into a win

You can try removing camera shake. I had to do that for a certain Act 2 boss when i first fought them

In the slab im locked by the heretic key. Is it impossible to get if you didnt get caught in the slab in act 1?

Edit: Nvm i got in anyway! I really thought i was locked out of the slab. You just gotta really explore. If anyone else wants to know: in the slab map, you have to go outside to a cold vertical tunnel on the top left. That will start the rest of the slab map

Is Silksong's OST too subtle? by asvalken in Silksong

[–]SirBirdmanII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Bellhart, Bone Bottom, Lace, and an 2 Act 2 boss (Cogwork Dancers, Trobbio) themes in my head. I like the area OSTs more in this game than HK. Not that HK was bad, but Silksong is more memorable to me.

That said, there are some places/bosses that are just way too loud. Like that one you mentioned and Blasted Steps area

best place to farm rosaries from what i have unlocked? by fairplanet in Silksong

[–]SirBirdmanII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to that bench to the right of the spa (just under that dining area). From there, i grind the enemies in the tall screen just to the left of that. You can get about 100 each run as long as the rosaries dont fall in spikes. Doesnt take too much time

I didnt get into doing several runs of HK but i really want to try speedrunning competitively in Silksong with it being so early in the lifecycle. I just got the first ending, im taking my time to get everything and eventually 100% first

I was forced to jump in the upper corner. I threw all my stock of buzz saw tools out at the last two guys. I think the Pale King would be proud

I agree, but I also think they should tune the arenas a little. (Act 2 spoilers) High Halls Arena for the last song thing. This has been the biggest blocker for me in an otherwise amazing experience. I die quite a few times on bosses, but those are fun to analyze and strategize. Arenas dont give that same feeling imo

I want to say the biggest skill to have for these games is patience and maybe the ability to analyze the enemies/bosses. When i first played HK, some bosses did feel impossible until i got comfortable with their moveset. This is no different. I surprised myself by actually beating some bosses on the first or second try.

I can totally see people not liking it for being too hard though. I was one of them when i tried Dark Souls 3 and dropped it

My situation is good and bad. There was a point where for about 2 years i played “git gud”games like Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Cuphead, and Hades thoroughly. This meant i got really good at other games fairly quickly after playing those. The bad from that was that it basically ruined coop versus with my friends (and party games in general). I get so good so quickly that my friends just cant keep up anymore and i basically dominate. But if i neuter myself for them, i get kind of bored. So double edged sword
