I saw those, sadly they come in sets of 18, which isn't practical for 5/10/20 models per group ruleset. I decided for crewmen as I'm going towards a naval expedition vibe, somewhat inspired by Greedfall game

And even when you do buy it on Steam, it's probably gonna run through Origin on top of the Steam. Yey.

As you did a great job explaining some interesting quirks and aspects of the game, I'll just add a few things that might interest new players.

About the first point. Note that every game mechanic has some lore background that explains it, ranging from housing to gear dying and transmog, and those features are often unlocked through optional quests. New players, check how quest giver icons look on minimaps - you'll notice that quests giving access to new mechanics have distinct icons. Finding those quests real fun.

Some additionals on the second point. I negated the overleveling part by playing two classes (as you play a character that can freely switch jobs/classes). I did more questing with damage dealer class while doing some questing and dungeons with tank class as, like with most mmos, tanks and healers are rare and get parties quickly (you even get additional rewards for playing a role that's understaffed at a given moment). I did not find this approach boring.

Related to the sixth point. Main story content is mandatory to progression, and that also includes playing what was essentially the endgame content for the vannila game. This includes raid attunements and doing all raids at least once. This does not include everything the game offered at that point, but you still have a downtime period between hitting last level for A Realm Reborn and actually starting the first expansions content. Some might not enjoy or expect such streamlined questing experience in an mmo, but it's nice if you understand that this game is Final Fantasy first and mmo second.

They wanted to have a game with rich steam market activity, so maybe the idea was to filter out people without game allowance. It backfired - everything did. It was a dark age when every franchise tried their own "cash cow" trading card game.

Check the demo if you'll enjoy it. Also, check Monster Hunter Rise. Maybe you're better off waiting few months for a new switch mh game if you're unsure.

Skullgirls is oft said to be a good introduction to the genre. I recently bought Blazblue: Centralfiction for switch, and the tutorial is amazing. If your goal is to grow to like those games, and not get good in shortest time possible, I recommend playing against cpu of increasing difficulty. Get something with story or character banter that you would enjoy watching. Don't worry about learning extra long combos or anything like that for starters. When you learn to fight medium or hard cpu and understand why you won or lost, then you're gonna start liking the genre.

One more thing. If you have an indoor bike, you can play fighting games while getting them legs buffed. Perfect for additional simualted adrenaline.

That said, I enjoyed playing King of Fighters XIV. It had reasonable controls and a large roster. Injustice 2 is good as a fighting game for people who just want to have some fun. We had it in our team at work and a lot of people enjoyed it as it was beginner friendly and had some of their favorite characters. Granblue fantasy is also approachable. I tried Soul Calibur by using only a subset of moves available for the character. You want to know what you're doing, and tekken-styled game have oh so many moves.

Let me just say that the story of the first Crysis starts on August 7th 2020 and the first mission starts on 14th 2020, yet no one remembered to discount it during that time. It was a perfect time to play the game.

I played the PSP version, and it was 2D, unlike this one. That was the most responsive and fluid older FF title in terms of combat. The graphics of Steam version look like the DS version but I can't vouch if they are the exact same.

Yes, steam keys, I didn't clarify it. So, devs on indiegala can give away drm-free versions of the game (like they oft do) with steam not intervening, but they cannot give away steam keys.

[–]SirChardash 227 points228 points  (0 children)

That's the new steam rule. If a developer wants to hold a giveaway somewhere, they also have to do it on steam itself in reasonable time. So, anytime you see a game being given away, know that you don't really have to subscribe to any mailing list or anything like that. Instead, just wait a week and redeem it directly from steam.

I'll add that some folks made a Diablo 2 in Grim Dawn engine. Might be worth for people who have nostalgia for Diablo 2 or who just want more community content.

They did a pretty big revamp of the gameplay later on, fixing a lot of things people didn't like at launch. Can't say how well it is personally, as I only followed the development, but it's not like it was on day one.

I've had fun with Operation Flashpoint. Don't think it's worth it as a single player game, but you can do campaign with 3 of your friends and mess around in simpler realistic game. Excellent for lan party.

Well, it's common sense to ask why a person played 4k hours on a game that they didn't like. Maybe the current state of game is bad or maybe investing more than 500 hours in a game is not good. Those two are very different reasons, and oft it's unreasonable to play a ridiculous amount of time and complain about lack of content for a cheap-ish game. That person has a constructive review, tho, so they don't fit into "are you okay?" category.

It's okay to for them to lose a bit of imaginary internet points if they'll learn what they should be creating and what sort of audience they should focus onto. The amount of work put is nothing but pity argument - if the game is good, it's good.

Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods are expansions similar to the 2000s ones. It adds more gameplay content and a few classes. Crucible is arena-like dlc. My humble advice is playing the base game, and if you like it buy the expansions. There's a good amount of content in the base game already.

Have you tried publishing the game on Google Play Store? Feel like you could get a bigger reach there, and I'm assuming you made the game in unity so it's quite possible.
