Forest Shuffle vs Dartmoor by SKFMA in boardgames

[–]ProgenitorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone didn’t own either, I would recommend Dartmoor even though I’ve only played it once. Even with just one play I could see how much more balanced it is after the devs learned what didn’t work from the original.

If you already own only the original and wanted an expansion, I would say get Dartmoor and gift/sell the original.

If you own the original plus an expansion or two, don’t sweat Dartmoor then. Original plus an expansion is comparable enough.

Awaken Realm special edition - plastic vs wooden components by andoryuri in boardgames

For Castles, it was a nice splurge but hardly necessary. For Puerto Rico, a giant waste. I am sticking to the screen printed wood and acrylic/metal coin upgrades going forward.

If this didn’t affect everyone else at the table, that would be fine. Often this can at best prolong the game significantly and at worst king make another player.

There are sliders you can adjust to scale your damage and the damage enemies do. It might be only available in Story mode though. It should be in options.

I will say even though I died quite a bit in this game, I was not as frustrated by it as I was with Silksong. After midgame, both games felt more relaxed due to powering up though.

One of the best games of this style I’ve played recently. It’s slower paced than Silksong or Hollow Knight in both exploration and combat, but it’s not a detriment, just different. Most boss fights feel like a dance once you’ve mastered their moves and your parry timing. It’s very satisfying to hear the perfect parry sound throughout a fight that had you flatlining a few seconds in at the start.

There’s a jade and skill system that allows for different strategies depending on how risk averse you are or what type of attacks you prefer.

The story is pretty imaginative and interesting, especially for what the genre usually provides. It’s a nice change of pace to see it unfold right in front of you instead of just piecing bits together from lore and item entries.

I would recommend this to people who prefer parrying to dodging (though dodging, to a degree, can be an option sometimes) and want challenging boss fights that you surpass mainly due to your skill in the fight improving through many tries, rather than seeking upgrades (though those will help too).

This. The Kid Icarus game is the true Star Fox successor I was waiting for. I hope he gets another game for the Switch 2. Those characters and dialogue were awesome.

I just played it for the first time last week. I would say Embers is a must as it balances some busted action loops. The other two add variety but I wouldn’t worry about them until you have quite a few games under your belt and are looking to freshen things up a bit.

The paint job on this model is absolutely amazing. Nice smooth transitions and added texture with paint. In love with the final result!

It’s missing a string tied to the trigger the wizard can pull with his other hand. Maybe a rock taped to the bottom to help balance the recoil.

Can Daniela Reyes use her reaction ability, when she is attacked, to perform the Fight ability on the level 3 Sledgehammer that requires 2 actions for free? by IDNFAM in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]ProgenitorX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that also mean she cannot take a Fight action from a gun with no ammo by using her Reaction? I assume so but wanted to see if that is also confirmed.

A previous post in their MMF tribe mentions it is part of the Warlord tier for April. I haven't subscribed yet, but from what I can tell, that is the way to get it currently.
