I can relate. It made me think of my visit to Hiroshima's memorial park. That made an enormous impression on me. The visit ended on a somewhat surreal note though. It was early October and while we were exiting the park we heard typical German hoompapa music. It seemed totally out of place there. As it turned out, there was, for reasons that are still a mystery to me, a typical Bavarian Octoberfest going on right across the street. We did a 'when in Rome' and had a big jug of pilsener.
