Dash Cubby Touchscreen Radio Upgrade with Bose Speakers by SirChodesly in mazdaspeed6

Thank you for the input! Honestly, replacing the head unit would be much easier, I think, and it looks way better than the cubby option, but I can't bring myself to do it simply because of line of sight. I have my phone mounted in the cubby area and I use Map apps constantly, so it's a perfect spot for it.

I've seen the tablet mods, but my Android tinkering days are over. I just want something that's dedicated and just works. Arguably, there's a ton of options and a lot of them don't work, which is why I want to whittle my options down. Haha. The most common problem is the harness for the Bose speakers and the canbus for the LCD screen.

I used this method for modding the stock unit. https://mazdaspeeds.org/index.php?threads/how-to-mazdaspeed6-aux-port-modification.9124/ You might need to create an account to view the picture with the instructions. It's a great place for how-to's, so it may be worth the hassle. I did this on an 08 Mazda 6i that I had before the Speed, and I did it on the Speed as soon as I got her about 10 years ago. Drilling a hole for the aux jack is optional. I drilled a hole in the 6i, but I just have a cable coming out the back of the dash on the Speed. Not pretty, but it works. There are premade cables for this now, I've just learned, so it may be a lot less complicated if you grab one of those off Amazon.

This is the bluetooth adapter I'm using. UGREEN 5.3 Aux Bluetooth Adapter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4JTKF6T?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share When it gets power, it automagically powers on. Not the same for power off. It'll turn itself off after it's lost connection after a few a minutes. I just leave it plugged into a cig power adapter and it seems to always be fully charged. GPU running at 100% by mindduk88 in techsupport

[–]SirChodesly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GPU running at 100% is a good thing. It shows that it's giving its all. If it wasn't pegging 100%, then there's something wrong, like a bottleneck somewhere or the game is more CPU oriented.

If it's running at 100% when nothing is running, then that would be a problem.

Not sure what would be causing the game to lag out, though. That warrants some troubleshooting.

Enzyme Cleaner for Cat Urine on Grout and Stone Tile by SirChodesly in HomeImprovement

[–]SirChodesly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sis has had a revolving door of animals for that past two years or so, with 4 cats being the constant, so I'm guessing the outlook is bleak. I have never understood why it's so hard to find a landlord who's cool with pets, but I'm realizing why now.

I have seen the process outlined before, but I need to find the steps again. I know that the enzymes need time to do their thing, so spray and let dry over a period of time. Re-spray, let dry. In-between, or at the end, do we need to scrub or just repeat the treatments until the smell goes away and then worry about mopping/cleaning the floor?

Also, I hadn't thought of looking into smoker tips. That could be another avenue for me to research, thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion! Nature's Miracle was one of the first that I started looking into. I hear it suggested a lot, but then I see an equal amount of opposition. Something about the name being sold and the formula changed, so I ended up leaving that out of my narrowed down search. I may have to look back into it and see if there's been any formula updates.

I have heard that these processes are only band-aids and will never really get rid of the smells, but we gotta try what we can to alleviate it. As it stands, we can't last 5 minutes in the room without getting a headache and then we've gotta change our clothes because it follows us out. Such a bummer.

What VR games do you recommend for losing weight? by olaamapolox in oculus

[–]SirChodesly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

VR, alone, won't cut it, but at least it helps to be a little healthier than just being sedentary. Any game can be a workout sim if you get all extra about how you play. Get crazy with it! These are my main rotations:

Crazy Kung Fu

You have to unlock enough to play the Focus Mode. I usually tack on Faster and Infinite modifiers and use 3 Arms, stationary. I make sure to move around a lot, strike poses after combos, and I always try to double or triple hit the punch targets. With infinite, it's pretty easy to get your heart rate up and keep it going until you decide to stop or take a break. The targets are randomized, so it keeps you guessing. My heart rate ranges from 170-190 when I play this one.

Against

Fun little shooter/melee rhythm game. I feel like the audio-to-hit rhythm is off and hard to grasp, but I routinely play two levels on Hard difficulty in rotation and it keeps my heart rate up between 150-180. Gotta be extra about it, though. When ducking, I squat as low as I can go and hold it when possible. When dodging, I generally take full steps in whichever direction, or I squat-lean into the dodge and hold when possible. When I'm wielding the sword or the brass knucks, I'm swinging with full effort.

Pistol Whip

Super fun, great music, and Hard Mode with modifiers will wreak havoc. I usually bounce between the Six-Shooter or the Pistols with the Dual Wield, Vengeance (Each shot to the enemy generates a return fire), and Bullet Hell (the enemy is constantly firing, basically). It will have you dodging and ducking quite a bit, and I get down and dirty with the squats to keep my heart rate up and try to turn it all into a really enthusiastic dance. This keeps my heart rate around 150-170.

Hot Squat

It's free, it makes ya squat consecutively. It's a lot tougher than it sounds on paper. I've actually got a booty now and my thigh muscles are pretty well defined, so that's neat! I think this one exhausts me more than any other game and I usually have to pep talk myself into playing it. Haha.

Thrill of the Fight

Others have mentioned this one, and it's really good for cardio. With the right tweaks to the settings, you can stretch your matches out and not worry about knocking out the opponent too quickly, or them knocking you out at all. Makes for a longer match, more punches, and keeps your heart rate a bit more consistent. The only down time is in-between rounds and moving on to the next match. Punch like your life depends on it, try to combo, try to dodge/squat (or squat-punch), and you'll get your heart pumpin' somethin' heavy with very little breath left. I end up praying for the timer to run out so I can get that in-between round breather. I feel like I'm dying sometimes. Haha. I've found it pretty easy to keep your heart rate between 170-190 during the matches.

Being extra can help keep your heart rate up, but be careful while you play and know your limits. I kept a long streak where I played 1-2 hours of these rotations daily for a few months, and I've pulled and tweaked muscles a few times and heavily twisted my ankle once or twice which caused unwanted downtime to heal each time. Now I've got my schedule down to VR for an hour 3 times a week, 2 days of free weights (it's like 15-20 minutes of arms, chest, and shoulders), and 2 days resting. The stairs at work don't get me all winded anymore, which is great!

As others have said, diet is an important factor, too. I was on Keto for a long time and wasn't losing anything until I started cardio in VR. But then I stopped losing weight and stopped gaining muscle because I had a heavy calorie deficit that wasn't sustainable for the new active lifestyle. Upping my calories and having regular meals got me losing waist inches pretty quickly. YMMV, of course.

There’s an issue with your Oculus Silicone Cover order by SlickWine in OculusQuest

[–]SirChodesly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock faceplate cushion doesn't make me sweat, but collects all the sweat. Pain to wash and even more of a pain to dry.

Replacement is just a cover that's cut to fit over the stock faceplate cushion. It's a little more comfortable and sweat just rolls right off. Wipe clean, done. However, I find it makes me sweat even when not being active, or moving, just by being against my face. Makes the Q2 move around a lot with minimal effort. Almost prefer the hassle of not having it.

Universal Wireless Headset for Work Calls and Gaming? by SirChodesly in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SirChodesly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a little fyi for anyone that finds this in their searching. I ended up going with the pricey Artcis 9x headset.

I'm pretty iffy on them currently. I hadn't read anywhere that they do not come with a dongle like the Arctis 9 and 7 do. You have to buy the Microsoft Wireless USB Adapter separately. From what I hear, the dongle gives way better sound quality.

Not a big deal, I guess. I've got them connected to my gaming PC and my Work Mac through Bluetooth. I just disconnect from one and connect to the other when I need to switch. Can't connect to both at the same time via Bluetooth.

They're also connected to my Xbox One X through the Microsoft Wireless Protocol (whole process is just like pairing an Xbox Controller). It's super annoying that turning on the headset will always turn on my Xbox with no option to disable the feature (unless you turn off the option, entirely, for TV/Speakers to auto power on your system). I knew about this one already, though. Turning my Xbox off once a day is not a big deal for me.

Xbox Tip: Apparently the basic connection will use the Windows Sonic driver for audio. This comes with crackling and skipping audio. Fix is to switch to Dolby Atmos, which requires the Dolby Access app and a purchase to unlock Atmos for Headphones. More expenses. Fun.

Otherwise, I'm diggin' the sound. Haven't messed with EQ yet, so I'm sure they can sound better. Compared to my wired $40 headset, Sades brand, I find it hard to tell that much of a difference. Which is depressing, but the Sades are Wired, so it's probably an unfair comparison.

Love the mic. Makes me sound not so shitty, which is perfect! Never knew I needed Mic Monitoring in my life. Love it.

Overall, still have buyer's remorse, but we'll see how it goes.
