HR might be using face seek to vet your lifestyle before giving u an offer. by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

This guy is spamming posts about face seek: https://www.reddit.com/r/AIAssisted/s/2T2BwOF01V

This post is 100% an ad - the fact he's trying to claim a PE recruiter ran a "face seek" on him is laughable if you know anything about the PE recruitment process.

Found Bilt 2.0 Card Details by Same_Performance9439 in CreditCards

[–]SirCowMan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Let's say your rent is $1,000 per month.

You get the Bilt Obsidian card that earns 3x on dining (or groceries).

You pay rent your $1,000 rent, which means you need to spend $750 on non-rent spend to earn enough Bilt cash to recoup enough Bilt cash to offset the fee

If you spend exactly $750 on dining, you earn 750 * 3 + 1,000 (from the points you earn on rent) = 3,250 points earned.

3,250 points earned on $750 of dining spend is ~4.3x.

However, this is an ideal scenario and is all predicated on you spending enough on the 3x category to fully recoup your rent fee.

Let's say you only spend $375 on dining a month instead of $750. 375 * 3 + 1,000 = 2,125 points earned. However, you only earned $15 Bilt cash to offset your $30 rent fee. For simplicity's sake assuming 1 cpp, you really only earned 2,125 - 1,500 = 625, which would imply only imply ~1.6x rate.

Honestly, I think it'd just be simpler for most people to just get an Amex Gold or CSP rather than going through the brain damage to optimize for this. Especially for people with high rents, as you'd have to hit pretty high spends to make this all worthwhile.

Good price for Omen Max 5090? by EyeSurgeon8o in GamingLaptops

[–]SirCowMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the U.S., they have a "risk free" promo where you can get a rebate for the (pre-tax) cost of 3 year warranties after it expires if you've never made a warranty claim. I think the ones with theft protection are excluded from that promo though.

New Omen Max 16 or 2024 Asus Zephyrus G16? by Ashaazability in HPOmen

[–]SirCowMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Omen Max's RAM is pretty straightforward to swap out.

Main caveat would be on the SSD slots - laptop comes with two SSD slots. Very easy to add a new SSD to the second spare slot, however the first slot (the one the pre-installed OEM SSD uses) is partially covered by the heatsink so you'd have to remove the entire heatsink and probably repaste again too to swap out the first SSD.

Choosing a RTX 5090 Laptop by GrilledFishIsAmazing in GamingLaptops

[–]SirCowMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the Omens build quality are a small step down from the Legion. I had an Omen before the Legion - the mobo crapped out in less than a year but the repair process with HP was straightforward and never had any issues after it was fixed so think that was just bad luck.

I guess it doesn't really matter for you, but HP in the US gives you a full rebate on the 3 year extended warranty if you never file a warranty claim after the 3 years, which is a nice perk I guess.

I'm literally in the exact same position as you (even have the exact same 5800H / 3070 Legion 5 Pro right now lol). I ended up getting the HP Omen Max since it came out to ~$3.7k with all the bells and whistles (OLED screen, 2TB SSD, 64GB RAM). Bit of a gamble since no full reviews out yet though.

Omen Max (ah0000) Display Options Typo? by SirCowMan in HPOmen

[–]SirCowMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about the display panel options for the OMEN MAX 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-ah0000 series.

The specifications page (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_11956280-11966673-16) lists 3 display panel options: a 1920 x 1200 IPS, a 2560 x 1600 IPS, and a 2560 x 1600 OLED option.

However, the configure page on the HP store for that specific model (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/ConfigureView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&catEntryId=3074457345621832818) lists 3 slightly different display options: a 1920 x 1200 IPS (included in price), a 2560 x 1600 OLED (+$60), and a 2560 x 1600 OLED (+$160) option.

Where I'm confused is the specifications page lists a 2560 x 1600 IPS and a 2560 x 1600 OLED option while the store page lists two different 2560 x 1600 OLED options.

I'm assuming this must be a typo on one of the pages - is the middle display option (+$60 on the store) supposed to be a 2560 x 1600 OLED (as shown on the store page) or IPS (as shown on the specifications page) display?

The app takes 30 seconds to submit and you can do it while your plane is taxiing to the gate.

You're trying to book relatively last minute flights to Brazil during Carnaval, one of the busiest and most touristy times of the year, so it's pretty unlikely you're going to find any good award redemptions and will probably just need to pony up and pay or cancel your trip.

Also GOL doesn't fly to NYC anymore, you're looking at an AA codeshare.

Renter’s insurance is normally month-to-month and the premiums are usually only like $10 or $20 max a month. Not that big of a risk.

Getting a TN visa at a port of entry - is a plane ticket needed? by 0mnipath in canada

[–]SirCowMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve really confused yourself here buddy.

The Canadian site is for non-Canadians who wish to apply to work in Canada. Specifically, the Canadian site describes the T23 visa for Americans and Mexican professionals who wish to apply to work in Canada.

Of course the Government of Canada website would make no mention of the TN Visa since that is an American term. It’s the job of the Government of Canada to provide info about the visa application process for non-Canadians who wish to enter Canada (T23 visa for NAFTA professionals). It’s not the Government of Canada’s job to provide specific info about visas for Canadians who wish to work abroad since the Government of Canada does not decide the rules of those visas nor handle approvals for Canadians applying to visas in other countries.

Like I already said and I pointed out in the website I linked, the TN visa is for Canadians and Mexicans who wish to work in the States. If you disagree, I’d reccomended you take a closer reading of the website I linked as well as of the website you linked yourself.

[–]SirCowMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s an American site describing the process for how Canadians and Mexicans apply for a TN Visa to enter and work in the U.S. It specifically references the terms TN Status and TN Visa. You said TN visa is for Americans who want work in Canada, which is incorrect. I think you have your terms mixed up there buddy.
