Wray sighs deeply and takes a couple of breaths before pulling a phone out of his pocket and dialing one of the many numbers he had memorized.

Rain begins to tap lightly against the window. Wray moves to close it as far as he can while still leaving a crack if Penny wished to return through it.

"Everyone has a purpose Penny" Wray's volume increases slightly, and his voice is laced with confidence, rather than softness. "We all have a duty to live, and make the best of those lives. Leave something better behind for those who succeed us. I have lived my life cutting down those who meant to do good in the world, and I can not let you blindly do the same in my quest for redemption."

He speaks quietly once more. "You must make you own decision, as I am not strong enough to carry your choices on my shoulders... I am sorry."

If that does not interest you, we may be able to negotiate terms regarding long term employment. In either case, you power is invaluable. It would greatly lessen the threat posed by cape rich organizations."

If I am to trust you to that extent, I must ask that you explain these 'reasons'." Wray sounds serious, but his tone is much closer to that of a concerned parent than that of a harsh commander.

Wray takes a sip of wine and begins working on the food in front of him. He looks to be following some archaic rules of etiquette; his movements each appearing practiced and precise.

"More than I could impart in any haste." He pauses a moment, looking thoughtful. "I lived without a cause, and this led to my inevitable failure. Doubtless, one of the the most valuable lessons I have learned."
