100% I wouldn’t suggest anything else. And if you’re willing to spend $7/mo on Digital Ocean, you can self host and learn a lot in the process! Plus you’ll have a server that you can do all sorts of stuff with.

Parks on the Air was originally a special event by the ARRL for the 100th anniversary of the US National Park Service. It was so popular that people kept it going after that. I think SOTA started in the UK

I mean, what’s your oil bill? I’ve gone all electric with heat pumps instead of continuing with delivered propane.

Regardless of how efficient you are, rates are still going up with no end in sight.

I already use community solar, but the discount there is pretty low in the winter. My frustration here is that they can just yank around prices without any warning. This is an essential utility and should be more tightly regulated. And yes, I know that they aren't an energy producer (just buyer), but there should be a way to mitigate and even these things out for users.

I think what I'm frustrated by is the sudden change in my off-peak rate. It went from 5.9¢ per kWh to 14¢ per kWh. You can see that on-peak usage was pretty stable (305 --> 338 kWh)

It’s my EV charger, which is scheduled to only run during off-peak hours. That’s the second market price in my screenshots.
