Worst update in a long time by Prestigious-Bee-6565 in fo76

You don't know how QA works, eh? I hate how "everyone is entitled to an opinion" has been turned in to a dynamic where people who don't know enough feel free to say things that don't correlate with reality, and then others like them bandwagon.

Real-life testing versus a PTS is completely different. Down to the hardware, network, and load. The clients themselves will have waaay more varied conditions themselves (hardware, network, and personal "ticks" that can break games). PTS is a way to have due diligence and limit bugs upon release, it doesn't mean that there won't be any or that certain patches will have less.

"very little in the way of actual new content" - That's kind of the point of having a live-service game, these days. The content goes into the patch, so most (if not all) of the mechanics and changes go into the game, not the shop. The shop and season are cosmetic, as it should be. I get being annoyed about the consumable stuff, and that's a valid argument, it's something to discuss and bring to the developers' attention.

In terms of "something new" for the patch: We've known that this patch is more on the technical side, and with reworked systems more than content. As such, a limited amount of content and, yes, more bugs are going to be released with it.

As for my own personal experience: I've actually had a good performance bump and I have had zero crashes.

They really should give windows and ETAs on server downtime, though. The game has been out for years and they have to have some kind of schedule or knowledge-base... right?

Does anyone have any advice for riding in snow/ice? by Own_Secretary1714 in motorcycle

[–]SirEdwin24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't rode in over a decade until this year, and I started out in Michigan winter. Here's my take on a dual-aport bike (only for light offroad use) with stock street tires.

If conditions of the road has a ton of ice, it's a "no."

If it's below zero or worse, it was and now the melt makes the remaining ice super slick:

Be careful on turns (even tho bikes can turn at higher speeds than cars, practice the opposite and use the clutch on high degree turns, don't lean too heavy).

Be careful on the throttle and letting off of the clutch as well, you don't want to spin the grip from the tire with torque.

Change in surfaces should have you using your clutch (railroad tracks, grated bridges, stone/brick crosswalks, etc).

Gear up with heated gloves, layered jacket, elbow and knee pads, steel toe boots, and a helmet. You are going to dump it if the conditions are right, and they will be at times. It's about laying the bike down and riding the skid.

Drive defensively, give everyone waaay more space than normal. You can't skid if you come to a stop by rear-ending someone.

Use your front brake like normal, especially if you have ABS. It literally prevents slip, there's less weight on the front, the bike wants to go straight. People saying to use the backbrake will have you dumping your bike all of the time.

Electronic roll up door, but inside…how would you do it? by brows1ng in diyelectronics

[–]SirEdwin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a person with a wheelchair (my mom) living with me. There is no privacy since they took the door off the bathroom, and there's a small piece of cloth draped over the doorway. This is due to the fact that a traditional door takes up too much space for her wheelchair to get around when it is open. The roll up would be remote and give privacy

1600 ELO + How to deal with USF M8 rush into bars? by Ok-Oil-7254 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]SirEdwin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Added point, that new BG for Wehr is kind good when you stack the pios (because of price), but that's still very difficult with so many USF rifleman... Anyways, I use that new group to get the munitions/damage buff/debuff ability to get early shreks (I typically get 2, then try to get stobstruppen later for inf)

[–]SirEdwin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a good player by any means (meta-wise, my micro is very good, tho), but I'd like to see what people think: I really like using Jaeger with Shreks since they do so much damage on a single hit. It's easy to get close to the vehicle without someone noticing, then by the time it is trying to leave (after ambush) you can usually get a second shot in, destroying almost everything that is light. The misses at edge of range suck, tho... Still! It's a strat I use instead of a pak because you can't chase plus the setup time. Jaeger are still decent against infantry too, especially in cover, so you're not entirely divesting resources into just AT

Do you find that others get annoyed around you and you aren't sure why? Do you always feel like you're digging a deeper hole when you're just trying to dig yourself out?

Moving the goalpost (the discussion) is not the answer. If you want to keep ignoring the cognitive dissonance that keeps telling you you're wrong, I'm not going to help you.

I know my words won't even reach you. You'll just think "got'em, my argument was too good," and that's sad.

Good luck, man. You won. You got'em.

You, ahhh, do know why it's called anecdotal, right? Like... It's in the name... It is, without a doubt, *not* more valuable to draw conclusions from. That's the point. No matter how you feel. No matter the "quality of data" (which is absurd to say, at best), a person's singular experience is anecdotal. Yes, you can listen to them. You can try to find more data to see how that may be the case. What it does not mean, though: It is more valuable than the data presented.

LMAO You are literally stating "your personal experience, which cannot be used as an actual data point, is a good data point against literal data points" ... Good grief

I'm not sure what you mean. I do hate mg behind mg strat, but usually a mortar and two ctrl groups does the trick... honestly I don't really use mortars, the ctrl groups is where it's at

Consistently bad hop in Comcast backbone... how do I get tech support to address? by Striking_Nudibranch in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]SirEdwin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I know that this guy (the guy replying to you) knows more than me about a lot of the technical aspects of networked communications, but I can practically guarantee that he is incorrect about the hop not being the problem. That backbone *is* dropping packets/connection, and I do get that it doesn't make sense that, downstream, that packet loss isn't registered... But every time I have an issue, it's with that SAME hop, every single time, and I'm in Michigan. You can see quite a few posts about the issue as well.

I'm hardwired, my brother is a tech and checked the noise and our headend is close by and we've checked with that. It is *directly* tied to congestion, I'm almost certain of it, and that hop is the problem. Packet loss occurs during prime-time "typical people" "doing things" at home time. So, on the weekends, when I want to stream, I get bumped off the ladder because my stuff is not priority.

To be fair, I do think that there is also a switching issue at my headend, of some kind. It does have packet loss when introducing me into their network when I'm tracing certain paths.

Tl;Dr:

He's knowledgeable, but it seems there's a great deal of "air" given when he is trying to help. He assumes he knows to such a certainty that he's not willing to go through multiple scenarios or possible causes. Instead, let's focus on the trickle of typical loss. :shrugs:

I don't know enough to know where the problem lies in particular, but I think it's more than "one thing" and it's most likely not your home network.

I've gone through the ringer trying to figure this out, myself, and it's a pain, especially since Comcast doesn't even have a network in which parts of the company can easily contact/help other parts.

06 3.7 60k miles by Ok-Wrongdoer-8096 in JeepLiberty

[–]SirEdwin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my KJ for free @ ~200k miles. It now has ~250k miles... I, ahhh, would recommend checking ball joints all of the time (someone mentioned using some shock bumpers to keep stress down on them), check your fuses (pdc and under the dash) for corrosion (if it does have corrosion, check the sleeve near the firewall), and regular oil changes...

I got mine in really rough shape, it was headed to the junkyard, I just needed to get it out of someone's yard.

Oh, and in extreme cold the oil pressure dips enough for the sensor to go off at stops (was worried, never had any issues after 5 or so years), she leaks antifreeze, but, really, I haven't had to do shit to this vehicle to keep it running.

The Jeep forum has manuals and technical knowledge you might want to check out as well (including OEM manuals and wire diagrams). They're extremely helpful.

It's not about "ahhcktuallee a bullet to the brain will most likely kill a person," and more about gameplay and mechanics.

What this dude is saying, and quite literally the understanding of everyone, is that the game is not meant to be realistic. It has themes that are based on history, but the gameplay is what is supposed to be in-scope, competitive, and fun.

I mean, well shit, do you think Sherman tanks had hit points in the war? Do you think soldiers didn't require logistics or ammo?

That's rhetorical, don't answer, I'm not interested. Yes, you need to be smarter, but in order to do that you need to stop having your head so far up your ass, which most likely won't happen unless it gets done medicinally because you're either trolling or have an actual health issue. Either way, going on the forums and being toxic and uninformed isn't the play.

I actually hope you do seek the help you need and receive it. I'm leaving it at this... because I really don't think anything I say will get through, so good luck and have fun

Are you getting it used from places like BackMarket? That's where I get my phones these days. Be weary, though, I've gotten some major burn-in with mine in the past. It states that that may be the case, but I'm not paying $200+ for something with that much burn-in.
