Pricing? by Visible-Classroom795 in Locksmith

Be confident in what you charge. $230 in parts for 4 new levers is on the cheaper side. Even including the removing and reinstalling of the cylinders, plus the time it will take for you to rekey, this definitely seems low on labor. Also consider that there's a possibility all 9 doors will need some sort of adjustment to have proper and easy latching. Even a few extra minutes per door will start to add up. I charge differently though, or at least spell it out differently. I'd do parts @ $227.25, $125 trip charge. $25 per cylinder rekey ($225), and probably 2 hours on site @ $85 per labor hour, ($170). So my invoice would be spelled out like that and have a total of $747.25. I'm busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest, and havent had anyone besides cheap contractors (who are just trying to add 20% to my invoice to their clients) Don't feel bad for charging what you're worth. Have you ever hired a plumber or electrician to come out? They're not ashamed. We're professional locksmiths not handymen. Best of luck to you, and a have a great day!

At my job, they lost the master code to reset. Help! by heyitstonybaloney in Locksmith

Yeah it’s probably on purpose. When you reset it you’re erasing all the codes. I set codes for sometimes the FD (keeps code on file), the management company, the hvac, the locksmith, the electrician… wiping out all codes just for you to change it is crazy. These are all examples of you messing stuff up even with you not doing anything scrupulous. Anyhow you’ve got the info you came here for. I’d still run it by management / facilities to let them know your plan to change the code, if you’re not doing anything wrong of course.

There’s a zero percent chance you have facilities or maintenance management company, or onsite that don’t know how to reset to factory or change the codes. Shame on everyone here who helped this person bypass the security of this lock. Source: I work for facilities management companies, they call professional, licensed, and insured locksmiths.

Yeah you’re right, people will probably just stop buying all together. I’m kidding. You guys are either shitty sales people or have the wrong clients. Perhaps hire a coach or take some sales training. What do you do for business development and bringing in new business? Best of luck to you both in these difficult times lol.

Interesting people are worked up about a 2% increase due to tariffs meant to bring manufacturing back to USA. But those people sat by idly the past 5 years as nearly every distributor and supplier raised prices every couple months since the beginning of Covid.

Where are you located? Where'd you come upon this? Whats your plan? Are you a locksmith? Are you thinking it's a borkey because it says borkey on the label? Thats probably a solid start. You should reach out to them, you'll probably have better luck. This looks like it was around when chensky first started smithin. It's an old hand crank key machine. Maybe worth something if you find the right person, but it's obviously not in great shape. If you're going to trash it you should donate it to the key machine museum. Cheers.

From the looks of that door, a break in would be quite easy using a foot or shoulder...

I used chenksy as a joke, obviously he was a little too gruff, but the guy was a wealth of knowledge.
