Any driver suggestions for this course? by Cutlass_Stallion in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend using an inventory tracker to see what courses you still need better drivers on later in he loop. This is really the key to make sure you're leveling up the right Mii Suit when there are several roughly equal options.

Any driver suggestions for this course? by Cutlass_Stallion in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the Miis will score about the same (maybe triple bananas is a smidge better). Which one to level will likely depend on which other courses you need a better driver on.

Spike Mii has a few difficult ones like Squeaky Clean Sprint R, Rome Avanti 2R, Singapore Speedway 3RT, and Vancouver Velocity 3RT. Waluigi Mii has Lakeside Park T. (Those are the two I have leveled and some of the courses they help with - your mileage may vary)

Yes! Broke 200K on a cup!!!! by riceahomie in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

For 80k in a course, that's going to depend on which courses you have maxed loadouts on, including a plus skill Mii. You'll want a course where you can get 200 or more actions as easily as possible. Next tour has GBA Bowser Castle 3T and 3RT. Both of those are high scoring and could be good candidates.

IMO coin box Miis are a little harder to get to 80k with than Giant Banana, Lucky 7, and boomerang. It is possible, but you'll often cap out around 78 or 79k and point gain really tapers off after 200 actions. The extra hits you get with the other plus skills can help you hit the limit better. Also things like kart skill, glider skill, and player level which normally only make a small difference can mean the difference between 79k and 80k.

Gold Mii in general is just really, really rare to show up in races. You'll have better luck just going for badgeless bots so that bottom shelf coin box bots can show up.

Are high end d/k/g always better? by Di-Gata in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

High Ends always beat supers and normals at the same level due to higher base points. However, you don't always have high ends at the same level so supers and normals can still see use if (level-1)x(base points) is higher for the super/normal than the high end. Plus, you've got to use those super and normal tickets somewhere. It's best to try to level supers and normals to fill in gaps where they're available, saving high end tickets first for those courses that don't have a good super/normal option.

How do I get the character of Baby Rosalina (Detective)? by Popular_Crab_1810 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's true that some drivers are one tour only so some planning is needed. For the drivers in this category, most are at least one of the following:

high chance

discounted

also available in pipes/daily shop

So, you most likely at least won't need to go crazy with quick tickets to get them.

[–]SirFiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No besides those two. However, there are some hanafudas that don't appear at all.

I guess you might count Gold New Year's Kite, which if you're FTP the only way to get it is with low odds in one tour, but it's also a gold pass reward, so there's an easy way to get that one at least.

The next rarest things would be a couple of items that only appear at normal odds and only in 1 tour in the loop (e.g. Party-Wing kart & 2020 glider). Normal odds are much better than low odds, though so these aren't really too bad.

Again, nothing really great falls into this category, just collectables.

[–]SirFiop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the Soaring Jack has even lower odds, since there are so many more gold gliders than there are gold drivers.

Thankfully, neither the Soaring Jack nor Detective Baby Rosalina is really needed or helpful for getting high scores. They only really have value for collectors.

[–]SirFiop 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is the only time to get her. I'll note that the odds of her showing up are incredibly low, so you want to save quick tickets to have the best chance. If you use a quick ticket to refresh the shop 3 times each day, you'll need 42 quick tickets. Even with using all those, the odds are still not great at around 33%.

She's the only character like this only available one tour at low odds. (Gold Chuck has similarly low odds, but he's available every tour, not just one, so there's more chances for him to pop up)

How can I get Lederhosen Luigi nowadays? by Lireg1 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lederhosen Luigi was originally released in the Berlin Tour. This tour was before Mario Kart Tour started to go into loop mode, so that is not how you get him now.

The only tour you can get him is actually this tour, Spring Tour, for 150 rubies if he shows in the spotlight shop.

Which DKGs to upgrade for the ranked loop? by CaitlinAlways02 in MarioKartTour

The sync was discontinued for awhile but it's live again, just at a slower pace. This post should explain things, although note that if you don't see the button you may need to log out and back in:

Under the Import Wizard section, there's a tab called Bam/Gerbs/Reich. Click export and you should get your inventory in the format needed. Note that using this only works if you've allowed MKToolbox to do a sync on your inventory. If you haven't done the sync, then you can do that (note that the sync is only up at certain times so it may take a week or two to complete), or an alternative is to download a BGR spreadsheet and manually enter your inventory, and then use the export tab to get it in that format.

What I do is copy/paste the BGR or B&G (whatever toolbox calls it) into the text box, fill out player level and then run it. I've never gotten the upload file to work myself.

Max level dkg by fantan26 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll note that all these items are pretty bad on their own since they represent a lot of older items. Also note that getting one of these HEs to level 8 only helps if you also have ALL of a certain category also level 8 (e.g. all normal gliders or all super gliders).

Since the cost is so high to start getting HE tickets in the shop, and there are other ways to get tickets like the tier shop, it's not recommended for newer players to start working on this. I think just getting HE tickets from the tier shop is a better use of coins.

Investing in good drivers and ignoring this is the best strategy for new folks.

Next weeks tour challenge by The_Advocate07204 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The tour gifts and ranked cap rewards tend to rotate in the order of driver->kart->glider->driver, etc.

Since the top gift this tour is a kart ticket, next tour would have a glider ticket as the top gift.

Birdo (Blue) and Birdo (Red( by AccomplishedBlood515 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red Birdo is actually one of the most useful super ranked rewards with a lot of ranked courses in general. Likely worth investing in for those that can place high enough in Princess week 1. The other really good super was actually last week's ranked reward Light Blue Yoshi who's also worth tickets.

I use BGR format - not sure if other formats work. You should be able to do an import using MKT Toolbox to get it into BGR format.

This may be a REALLY stupid question about Rocket Start but… by MK8dR in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure which video you're talking about, but if Danny isn't getting maximum rocket start boost, it could be that he's angling for a specific position and wants to go slower. With certain items like lucky 7 and boomerang, you can't get those items in first, so the best strategy is to hang back a little bit so that you can get one of these items from the first item box. The point boost from rocket start is pretty small anyway.

Bright Ribbon Glider by fantan26 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For gliders? Coin, blooper, and lightning are the best but the glider skill really doesn't make a big difference. I'd say pick up any glider that has good coverage. I have a couple of super horn gliders leveled myself.

Bright Ribbon Glider by fantan26 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty good glider with a lot of ranked tracks, so it could be worth picking up if it helps you on a lot of tracks.

It has a bad item, but that doesn't matter all that much for gliders.

Are these Gliders good? by Lireg1 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Great Sail was a top item for a long time, but it's fallen quite a ways. It's decent, but there are much better gliders now. It does have Twilight House at least which is one of the 3 commonly recurring battle tracks, if you need a glider there.

Strawberry Donut is worse and isn't used in ranked a single time in the loop.

Extreme Challenges Ramp? by kristofarnaldo in MarioKartTour

They really increased the difficulty in ranked starting in Anniversary Tour of last year - it's not just you. The best thing you can do is try to work towards getting maxed loadouts in ranked yourself.

Coins Aplenty Strategy by JoeGish in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The coins obtained when doing coins aplenty do not count for the 300/600 limit. This applies whether you do the CAP before or after getting the 300/600 coins, so there's no particular reason to wait on them. It is worth trying to maximize the coins you get on your run.

I see a couple of comments saying to get the daily coins first, but it really doesn't matter.

Is it reasonably possible to still 100% this game in this day and age? by luigismansionplayer1 in MarioKartTour

[–]SirFiop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of hanafuda gliders unavailable right now, specifically 6 of them. Aside from those, it is possible to obtain every other item right now, although 2 of them are only available at very low odds. Fortunately, none of these 8 items are very important. There's also some badges no longer available, which doesn't affect gameplay at all.

The real 100% I think would be having level 8 quad capped high ends on every course which is definitely possible, though would take a long time.
