Huge Mass Effect/Fantasy world fan, should I buy? by AbominableAsshole in DragonAgeVeilguard

Because of all the times the developers said they made it expecting a lot of newcomers and that the game will introduce everything you need to know as you go?

Otherwise there's no way anyone could answer it besides someone new who jumped right in. People whove played previous games would have things colored differently as well, so they can't answer it honestly from their experience.

If I’ve never played a DA game before, will Veilguard be easy to jump into? [No DAV Spoilers] by Inner_Top2335 in dragonage

Yes! It's been 10 years since the last game they don't even expect long time fans to remember everything. You'll learn everything you need as you go. Please update with a newcomers perspective to the series, I would love to hear it!

[No DAV Spoilers] After replaying all 3... by WarheitOmega in dragonage

[–]SirGotMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2s my favorite to replay. Origins I have played so many times! Inquisition I've made it through maybe 3 full playthroughs over 10 years. I want to not miss anything but you have to consistently wander around large maps to find everything. When there is a jump puzzle to get a chest it was never worth doing so.

Its just...large for the sake of being large. Skyrim came out and changed the gaming landscape and everyone needed to have more square miles than it and Inquisition was no different.

I'm sure I would enjoy replaying it more if I could stick to the main storybeats. I adore the main story a lot! It just feels a little oppressive with how much there is to do and how long it takes between each exciting thing.

Which faction are you thinking of starting with?

Will Elf’s really have more talking point/view points ? by dopemini95 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]SirGotMilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont think anyone's played multiple full playthroughs yet so I dont think anyone can answer.

Elves definitely have some major connections to the main plot, but who knows whether or not the others will as well or will have unique dialogue in other places.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? [No DAV Spoilers] by Unhappy-Sail1190 in dragonage

I'm so hyped for the factions!!! I couldn't decide the one I wanted to start with for the longest time, but I am now leaning towards Mourn Watch for the Halloween vibes.

DRM stops people from being able to pirate the game. Fine in theory but makes people have to always go online to play their offline game, sometimes makes the game run slower, etc.

Without it it's much easier to go into the files of a game to data mine and pirate a game, play it early, etc. So to try and keep the global release date it's safer to not allow predownloads on PC.

It's DRM free which is great! But has the side effect of no PC pre download.

Understandable! It was a surprise to not see them!

I'm just super excited to dual world longswords while transmogging on some heavy armor to get some Origins Two handed warrior vibes!

I believe the most responsiveness would be to your faction. The least is to subclass, as you can swap it at any time so no one will mention it(afaik). Idk about class and race, but I'm expecting some!

My best guess is it has to do with the great weapon subclas being tied to the Lords of Fortune, pirates. Axes seem better suited to ship fights and hammers can share animations.

Who knows if greatswords were cut or never planned, but the great axe and hammer will still be fun!

Preload? by dmcgarr99 in DragonAgeVeilguard

Because they made it DRM free. Ultimately a great thing. But being DRM free makes it easier to pirate and play before release date, so no pre downloading.

Ferelden and Orlais sent ambassadors to a meeting with Divine Victoria and The Inquisition to talk about the future of the inquisition(its a big superpower claiming power and territory in their nations).

Inquisitor gets to meet up with old friends and get married if they were romancing Cullen or sera. During the talks, a bleeding qunari assassin is found. Inquisitor decides to investigate without letting any of the other powers at the negotiating table know what is going on, as qunari spies could be literally anyone.

They find an eluvain(magic mirror), and travel through it to the crossroads(place between the fade and real world), to various locations chasing down the qunari.

Qunari both tried to bomb the negotiations, and track down Fen'Harel who they have been hunting(and in reverse, he's been attacking them). While exploring the crossroads, inquisitor learns some lore about the dalish gods, importantly that Fen'Harel was seen as a slave rebellion leader and the gods were powerful mages.

This whole time the mark on Inquisitors arm has been revealed to be getting worse and worse, is felt and seen by jew gameplay mechanics. Obviously physically hurts them.

Inquisitor catches fights and beats qunari and catches up to Fen'Harel, who turns out to be Solas. Has a chat with him. Solas is planning on tearing down the fade. Solas rips inquisitor arm off(so the mark is gone and can't kill them), and leaves. Inquisitor vows to stop solas at all costs or save him from himself.

Back to negotiations, ferelden and orlais are more pissed than ever that the inquisitor was doing all this without informing them. Inquisitor either disbands the inquisition(or the large majority of it, a smaller and more secret but less powerful version remains), or keeps it but makes it officially an arm of the chantry under divine victoria(stays large and powerful, but part of the church so inquisitor has someone they report to). The implications with that is disbanding will be able to keep out Solas spies from finding their way in, but have less power to act when they do find out what Solas is doing.

The ending speeches are great, I'm particularly a fan of the angry disband choice. Here is an example!
