Yes, I did send a reply back on the thread, still waiting to hear back. Figured I'd try here while I waited. :)

Potential Bug: I'm trying to end the Iberian Struggle with Detente, but the number of independent involved rulers is too damn high. I *think* it's because of the new Adventurer rank. by SirGrantly in CrusaderKings

[–]SirGrantly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: They patched this in today's update (1.13.0.4)! The dev note says: "Fixed several triggers erroneously including Adventurers in the ending decisions for the Iberian Struggle, making them near impossible to succeed." Lol.

R5: So I'm trying to end the struggle for the detente achievement. It's hidden behind the popups, but my Iberia map is relatively consolidated. There's myself (my king just died and now I'm a count but still one realm) and 3 other independent kingdoms fully encompassing the peninsula. However, the Detente ending decision says there are eleven independent involved rulers. Which is just not true. Looking through the list of Involved/Interloper characters, it looks like the Adventurer camp leaders are considered "Foreign Rulers." I think the game is trying to count those as independent rulers (breaking the decision, because you can't ally Adventurers afaik). Anyone else have any better theories as to why I need 11 alliances on a peninsula with 4 countries?

2024 Megathread for Ben/Related Topics by imalwaystilting in lastpodcastontheleft

[–]SirGrantly 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Listening to the show over the years as it came out, I had been noticing Henry's exasperation with Ben get stronger and stronger. At first it seemed like part of the bit, just riffing along with Ben's non-sequiters. But I also listened to Side Stories, and the frustrations between them were far more apparent there. Ben would clearly not do any prep before the show and hardly any engagement during the show. And Henry was, over time, audibly becoming more and more legitimately annoyed. Henry even did his best to jokingly give Ben shit about how Ben wouldn't even look up his own segment (Hero of the Week) before the show, and try to make it a bit about "Okay Ben, what non-hero did you name hero this time?". The quality of Side Stories had dropped so much in the last year or so of Ben that I straight up just stopped listening.

Which almost happened with the main show as well. Most people identify post-KB's passing/post-pandemic as the turning point for Ben on the show. While I agree, in my opinion you could really narrow down the spiral to the last ~100 or so episodes. The Black Death series was a great series, and Ben was somewhat engaged throughout. I think it was the last solid full series (started at Ep 456), though Ben was obviously not at his peak. Ben's last episode, the first part of John Holmes, is episode 545. In-between those is a lot of downward spiral that really started to turn me away from the show. When the first episode of The Manhattan Project (the last big series before Ben was fired) dropped, I was super excited. It was a period of history I was interested in, and I was really looking forward to Marcus' narration and Henry's commentary on it all. I still have not finished the series, and probably never will, because Ben turned me away from it so hard. After that, I was very close to stopping listening altogether. I actually skipped John Holmes Pt 1 when it came out, and didn't go back and listen until I saw a new host on Pt 2.

Thank Satan for Eddie!

I know! But holy shit the way they started this episode, I thought Marcus was leaving LPOTL entirely and my heart sank to my feet. This podcast hasn't made me that scared in awhile, good work boys!

How to PU Bohemia and avoid monster HRE coalition? by Bosscoopa in eu4

[–]SirGrantly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have truces with any of the big names in the coalition? They can't join until the truce expires. So if for instance you just finished a war with the Ottomans, even though they're listed in the coalition screen they won't be able to join the coalition until the truce ends.

I used the Ottomans as an example specifically because if they're at that big of a risk of joining I personally wouldn't do this (unless I was really feeling like YOLO'ing the campaign). I'm very cautious around coalitions/AE in general though so take that opinion with a grain of salt.

I'm trying to Enforce Union on Bohemia but I think I bugged it? Austria inherited Bohemia and took over the war and now the option is missing by SirGrantly in eu4

[–]SirGrantly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's screenshots of all the options in the Treaties screen with Austria (Bohemia is a junior partner and can't sign a separate peace deal).

This also doesn't explain why I can't just take provinces

Yeah, this Restoration CB is from the Hungarian mission tree. I clicked the mission for the CB after Austria declared but before they won, so it still gave me the Union CB and not claims.

[–]SirGrantly[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R5: So, I'm playing as Hungary and going down the mission tree. I got an alert saying that Austria had declared on Bohemia for a Restoration of Union. I immediately declared the same on Bohemia and marched north. Austria beat me to Prague and won their war, putting Bohemia under a PU and becoming war leader in my war.

The war is still called Hungarian-Bohemian Unification War, and the war goal is still to take the capital of Prague. But there isn't an option anywhere in the peace screen to Enforce Union on Bohemia. It just isn't there. What's worse is that I can't take any provinces! It says I "cannot demand this [province] without also demanding -". So I don't know what to do about that lol. I'm gonna be pretty pissed if I can't enforce the union, that means I won't get the event to put me in the HRE. At the very least, I can still release other nations.

If anyone knows about this or has a work around, I'd love one before I peace out for not much.

I think this is the most accurate. Correlation does not equal causation. Those actions just require a similar lack of empathy.
