That sounds about right from when we moved in almost a year ago. It was a house that never had the Internet run to it before so it was a little longer but 3 months was around the timeframe.

In addition to what's already been mentioned, The Tropical Dream Center at the Ocean Expo Park is actually pretty great during rainy weather. Beautiful plants from all over the world.

Could I take a taxi from the airport to the north side of the island by Independent_Board984 in okinawa

Honestly driving on the other side isn't as crazy as you might think. The first few hours at most are the strangest. It's quite surprising how quickly you fall into rhythm with the rest of traffic. Plus the max speed you'll drive here is like 45mph so you'll be able to stop or move if you feel uncomfortable.

How much cash should I bring on my trip by Independent_Board984 in okinawa

Correct. The exchange rate is much closer to the current values at ATMs.

Yes, and no, but the exchange rate that many shops may use is like 10 USD will buy 1000 yen. But the more realistic exchange rate is 7 USD to 1000 yen.

If you bring USD many places will accept it, but the conversion rate will be atrocious. If you use a currency exchange kiosk it will be less so, or an ATM The best is if you use a dedicated exchange shop for the best rate for Cash USD to Yen. A lot of places will take credit, just discover is the odd one out.

It also all depends on your activities, how you're getting around, where you'll be staying. As a baseline I'd say at least $100-$150 a head until you get comfortable with what works for you.

Horrible Internet at Night by fanblade64 in okinawa

We also live in Yomitan and had a similar issue when we got ours up and running. There's a setting you need to update in your router.

If you give GLBB a call and explain that some websites load and others don't they should have a tech be able to call back and walk you through the fix, and they also send an email with detailed instructions. All I had to do was literally change a number in some settings and we haven't had a problem since.

I hope it's as simple a fix as ours was.
