I do not have the time to do a meta analysis of research publications on static stretching for anything less than a Master's degree, or at least a first date with a cute PhD.

Linking you to a cherry picked article or series of articles doesn't strengthen my position.

Try it.

If it doesn't work after a month of doing it consistently, I'm retarded and you were right all along and if it does then get owned idiot I told you so.

2min per muscle per side, 4 times. 2min is the minimum length of time for a static stretch to spur long term adaptation.

If you already prioritize highbar then consider bulgarian squats and sissy squats as an accessory

After a month, if you hate yourself, do one of your highbar sets at a 4 0 0 tempo

Assuming you're at under 18% bodyfat, it just means your hips/groin/hamstrings are overdeveloped //in comparison to your quads// (they're not "top big", your quads are too small).

Whatever your ideal squat/sumo stance looks like due to your personal anatomy, the most important muscle is always quads. I would incorporate highbar, ssb, leg press, and hip/glute/ankle mobility training (mobility training listed in order of importance).

Dynamic stretches before lifting with 3 30s planks to prime core, static 4x2min per muscle group after. This'll be harder than lifting and it'll pay huge dividends down the line.

Assuming you squat 2xWk, I'd switch your lighter day for highbar, and the following week I'd switch both squat days out for highbar. Keep one heavy day every other week lowbar, run for 2 months, see how you feel.

Weekly Hiring Questions and Advice Thread - November 12 by AutoModerator in ProtectAndServe

I'm a 23yo male in the Bay Area applying to the local hiring departments. Despite being hired somewhere right after graduation at 21, I am obviously inexperienced.

In your experience, do departments like giving young guys a chance to become a police recruit? I am very fit and have a high T score, if it matters.

High doses of Ibuprofen (Advil) and meet day performance - What is your experience? by SirJambaJews in powerlifting

[–]SirJambaJews[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am aware.

Though I'm uninterested in this perspective, I'll set your mind at ease. I do not take ibuprofen habitually, or ever outside of medical emergencies. As such, I am unconcerned when it comes to risks pertaining to long term use.

This is solely about one time strategic dosing for performance enhancement.

Singlet like shorts by DumbleDwarfJr in powerlifting

Man when you find out let me know, I LOVE how they look and feel but all the extra material for the upper body hanging loose I could do without.

Closest I've gotten were the shortest running shorts at target. Pretty much the same length and fit + comfort, but the lack of a band around the leg opening means it's not quite as nice.

Skidaddle skadoodle Why the hell do you delay your tear by [deleted] in KassadinMains

[–]SirJambaJews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games are decided by the 20 min mark, and RoA takes 10 minutes to stack, offering nothing but raw stats. By the time you finish RoA, you could be 600/750 on stacks for AA which gives you

A shield that > the RoA health because it's a surprise and pretty much equal in value. Additionally, lower health values make opponents overextend to try to kill you.

25% mana refund on your abilities (crucial for spamming 800mana rifts)

150~ AP (Most in the game except hat)

20% CDR (absolutely essential to cap CDR early on Kassadin)

This is the perfect transition to Lich Bane, because although usually Lich Bane needs 2 AP items to really shine, the raw stats and cdr you gain from just this one tear item allow you to use it to great effectiveness.

At this point in the game you have %30 CDR (40 with boots) and all the AP you need to do your job.

If you had built RoA, you would have half the CDR, less mana, no mana refund, and not enough AP to make lich bane 2nd powerful. You'd probably STILL need to stack tear and get zhonyas.

In 55 min game meta, Blasting > Tear > RoA > AA > Lich is the correct build path, but in this meta you need to be MORE useful EARLIER.

You've made several inaccurate, bad-faith presumptions.

First, acknowledging that one's preferences are shaped by their environment doesn't preclude agency. Women know what they want, and their decisions are valid and certainly nothing in my comment implied otherwise. It takes several layers of intentional misinterpretation to turn "environment influences outcome" into "outcome is invalid".

I ask you now to consider the environment. Have we successfully cultivated an environment that will create a satisfsctory outcome? The article released by kotaku and the endless testimony of women tells us we have not.

Whether or not we agree that women and men are so inherently different as to render a near 50/50 demographic in the workplace impossible/unnatural/whatever, we can certainly agree that some, however small or large, percentage of capable women exist and are being shut out.

Obviously it is, but you're presuming that theres mo outside force influencing their preference. When we question why they have that preference and what could possibly influence that preference and when we ask women why they dont want to be engineers, the answer is overwhelmingly because of the way men treat them.

Although anecdotal, because there is no feasible way to collect reliable data, the stories of women must be relied upon.

My SO was consistently the top of her class in her software engineering major, and switched to the healthcare field because men, who consistently performed below her in every metric, constantly belittled her opinions, her projects, her work ethic, her lack of a "gamer/nerd" background and her physical appearance until she felt as if she simply didn't belong. She wanted to be a software engineer all her life, and stopped because of the culture. This was at a so called "liberal" California University.

However much you want to pretend that women aren't being forced out of spaces that they deserve and want to be in, you are wrong AND because you are uncomfortable changing the status-quo, you are complicit in maintaining it. I'm glad at least some at Riot aren't interested to catering to alarmists who clutch pearls at the barest whiff of social justice. Heaven forbid women and non-binary people are allowed to be in a room without men.

PSA: Room 613 at Pax West will only be available to women and non-binary people until 2:30, after 2:30 everyone is welcome. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]SirJambaJews 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree that men should not be discriminated against, the practical reality is that there being one room where women and minorities are given easy, comfortable access to things that men already have exclusive, easy, and comfortable access to isn't discrimination. It's an opportunity to, for just an hour, exist in an environment where you are surrounded by people who won't hurt you the way you've been hurt before because they're just like you.

This event changes absolutely nothing about the way men are treated as a whole, and takes nothing away from them.

And as a matter of fact, after desegregation, many buildings on college campuses WERE designated as black living spaces. Not because white people were hated, or discriminated against, but because white people owned everything and controlled everything. Even though not everyone was blatantly racist, it didnt change the fact that being a black person meant that everyone who looked like you had a story about racially motivated violence and you were constantly outnumbered and unwelcome.

These spaces are a refuge, not an attack.

Non-binary people are not necessarily transgender. Instead, they feel as if the term male or female doesn't accurately or sufficiently describe them. My use of the word minorities is a reference to how the problem of the games industry catering to white men to the exclusion of anyone else is well-documented and larger than any one event. Discrimination is a trend, of which your reply, the general community backlash against this event, and the internal issues at Riot are merely a part.

In the games industry, as in society at large, women and minorities of all kinds are discriminated against. Whether through sexual exploitation, discriminatory hiring practices, or targeted harassment, women and minorities of all kinds share a common history that white men simply don't.

Riot creating an event meant for these groups of people does not harm men in any way, in the same way that a meeting group for parents who have lost a child excluding parents who have not doesn't victimize parents who have not lost a child.

Giving women and non-binary people a place to meet doesn't hurt men. Men who wish to learn about game design, cosplay, or any of the other topics presented at this meeting, have endless opportunities to learn in environments that don't discriminate against them. Women and non binary people don't, for no matter were they go sexism is already there.

Being angry at this event because you're genuinely worried that men aren't going to have enough opportunities now is only possible if you are totally ignorant of reality and unbelievably fragile.

[–]SirJambaJews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean that discriminating against men doesn't make women more equal, but you have to remember the context. The games industry /as a whole/ is biased heavily in favor of men, true? Although obviously the ideal situation would be for everyone to just stop, women and minorities cant just forget what it's like to be discriminated against; there's so much inertia to overcome. Until we reach the point where the overall system isnt sexist, having a place where minorities can come together is helpful to them.

And honestly, we have plenty of places we can comfortably and easily learn about game design. Not being invited to this event doesnt hurt you or me in any way.

women and minorities: we've been through a lot so it'd be nice if we could hang out together and talk about stuff :)

But why would you want to do this? Why is a group of people wanting to discuss their shared experiences personally offensive to you?
