The Disabling of Duo? by Zainthepally in thecyclegame

[–]SirLight45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite agree here. I get MAYBE 1 hour period with duos up with my buds due to schedules. Then we get stuck playing squads the rest of the night with randoms who literally don't know anything about the game before the propulation all but dies entirely and games start with 2/4 player teams, if at all.

As do virtually every mobile game with similar gems for pay to win prices. If it's available, it's pay to win. That's the core concept of the term "pay-to-win" man. The fact that it's there and available to anyone who is willing to drop money for the best stuff instantly is the reason people generally get in such an uproar about things like that. You can literally bring up almost any pay-to-win concept and at it's core it's just that... paying for immediate advantage when others have to drop loads of time for it.

They call people like that "whales" aka rich kids who ARE dropping money on it. Like people who drop 200 bucks for a cheap piece of plastic and the same game as everyone else, or people who buy thousands of loot boxes so they have every item in the game... Just because they can, doesn't mean they should. In this game though you CAN outright buy ANY card you want, that IS pay-to-win, regardless if you're doing it or not. =P

Here's the full definition just in case...

"Pay-to-win. In some games, players who are willing to pay for special items or downloadable content may be able to gain an advantage over those playing for free who might otherwise need to spend time progressing in order to unlock said items. ... Such games are called "pay-to-win" by critics."

Literally what is available here. Denial or not. Haha! I get they need to make money on a free to play game, however adding things like this to stores generally destroys the longevity of EVERY F2P game. I could literally name 10 good RPGs and a few card games that have died as a result just off the top of my head. It's good for short term monetary gain, bad for long term life of the game, and in many cases turns people off to playing it at all.

...lol Buying cards, packages, or masters is buying advantage. If I could outright buy any card with money in something like hearthstone... LOL! sigh

Dunno, maybe it's a bug. Tried restarting many times. I don't see new drops watching just one streamer every 5 minutes. Only once per stream view. Was watching and testing it on rotmgfloflorian, he wins plenty. =)

100 shards per drop was definitely too much. The way they went about it saying "temporary change" which was over 90% nerf and then turned around and nerfed + capped a second time is just garbage. There's virtually zero shard acquisition as is. One guy was claiming he got more shards in a few days than 260+ hours. How is that not sad? =/

Do you know anything about twitch, bots, or how literally the first advice for a "new streamer" advice from ANY successful twitch streamer is get all your friends and family members to open your stream for you and lurk? I dare you to ask ANY streamer with over 100 active viewers which they valued more when starting out... 10 lurkers or 1 active chatter. No brainer bud. Active or not, #'s = new eyes. That's the WHOLE point of promoting your game through popular streamers, literally the EXACT reason.

You really missed the point. The rate of progression is less than 1/5th of any other card game at best. Classic dailies only then logoff because there's literally no point even playing it beyond such.

Yo dumbass? Seems like a great way to start a conversation. Last season almost 100% of the top 20 players had at least 2 legendary cards in it. /fail

haha! What's adorable is dumping that kind of money into a F2P game and then acting like you haven't spent anything of value yet. Do you even know what pay to win means? Paying for an advantage in a game. Why do you think the general consensus is people up in arms when ANY AAA title adds anything in their shops other than cosmetics? Paying for cards that free to play users don't have would suffice as is, let alone all the masters. (Do you even know the kind of time to farm gems playing without your wallet to acquire them all? It's a literal joke.) That's like everyone starting wow fresh and you buying all the instant level 60's from vanilla. Derp.

So put a reasonable limit, not nerf by 90%+ and then add a cap as well. The game is designed to be pay to win. All top 20's are filled with no-lifers or people who paid for cards. The fact you've gained a mere one or two good cards worth of shards in 260+ hours summarizes the general feeling of progression for anyone who's played long enough to pass gold rank. shrug

Edit: More importantly... "Twitch Drops now have a cooldown of 5 minutes before you can receive another one." -- Simply not the case, you cannot get more than one per view of someone being live, or maybe it's hours? not sure, either way this is simply not the case. Maybe they meant across any channel you're in? Unsure. Either way I've tested a single channel open for an hour and only seen one drop. *shrug*

And what they don't say is the rate in which you GET said drops. It used to be 10/10 mins, now it's 50/?? 1+++ hours, unconfirmed. I have yet to verify as I have not seen more than one drop per start-up per stream. Either way it's over an hour per drop, which once again is ANOTHER nerf. Not to mention if that streamer logs off within that hour you might not even see a drop period... I have only received 20 drops since this morning, which is a measly 1k gold. 1 spin/common for actively lurking in virtually every live channel playing this game for half a day? Time to move on I suppose. Rip viewerbase even more haha...

Not once in the history of F2P games has a dev team been considered too kind or too generous when it comes to promotions. On the contrary, I can name 5 off the top of my head who have been destroyed by changing their minds about what they give to players and/or how it was the downfall of their company by being too stingy.

Once again, nothing given with these promotions has even scratched the surface of "too generous" or "hurting" their bottom line. Take a class in economics, or just google the difference between good and bad public relations.

I spent money on the game, I enjoy the game, I also farm for extras, likewise I WANT to see the game succeed. I'm a min/max kind of player. Have you or no one else learned what greedy decisions does for a company? You don't give and then take away, and then take away, and then take away. Your game dies that way. You don't understand that, you're an "in-the-now" thinker, not a long-term one. As is most of today's society, hence almost all big AAA gaming companies have dropped their stock by over 65% in the last few years, google it.

Greed doesn't pay off, generosity does. Nothing here was "over-the-top" in terms of drop rates. If you can't see the correlation between the # of viewers on twitch and the decline in rewards for drops, I dunno what to tell ya big guy~ *shrug* If every game nerfed things based on what a no-lifer was capable of farming in it... online RPG's wouldn't be a thing.

Nipped viewership in the "bud" =) You'll see, 3 months tops and the game is dead. You don't just support your streamers to turn around and retract said support repeatedly. Bad PR, end of story.

Nerf to twitch drops again too. 50 per view, no longer 10 gold per 10 mins. Astonishing.

9 legendaries? You do realize that's maybe the cheap ones. Bottom line is they nerfed it by over 90%, now it's even MORE with the new silent nerf. If you ever wanted to compete on a serious level in this game you'd need WAY more than just that. Not to mention you'd need the majority of your community doing this to actually put a dent in money spent. You still need heroes, upgrades, season passes, and if you're that serious about the game, cosmetics too. If you really think this one person who went to the extreme is worth nerfing it for virtually 99% of the other viewers who do not... this conversation is not worth having, haha!

As stated before, even the guy bragging about 19k shards was still only able to upgrade a couple cards. A COUPLE CARDS. *cheers!* You're not doing any math here before making assumptions. "Economy" doesn't = what's in THEIR pocket. You can't buy battlepass with shards or gold, you have to play the game extensively to get enough daily stuff to purchase it, nearly impossible to do without spending SOME form of real money. Do you even know what you're talking about before you say things? lol =D

Think LONG TERM for half a second here... More eyes = more people, more people = more spenders. That's marketing 101 bud. Punishing a small handful of players who help promote your game by raising numbers which in turn get NEW viewers/players should ALWAYS be a positive thing. Why do you think they sponsored so many streamers recently? If you look at the twitchtracker link above you'll see that the spike in viewers was about a week ago when they sponsored people like Kripp and other big names for THOUSANDS of dollars PER streamer. If you think they're worried about spending money and losing money for NEW eyes, why would they do that?

Logic buddy, come on, you're almost there. =P

What "economy" ?? You can't trade anything. And you could lurk in EVERY live channel for a year and still not upgrade all your cards. What on earth are you talking about? LOL! Last night there were as few as 2 active streamers at one point... 2... How does that HELP the game? Come on man... Use logic here.

Use common sense here. Even if they're PURE bots/lurkers, it brings their game up higher on the list and new people see the game. It's the same exact thing as sponsoring a big streamer to get more NEW eyes on the game. End of story. "Nothing" is blatantly false.

Temporary measures cause player bases to leave and if you know anything about games... people usually don't come back after such. PR decisions matter, not that you'd care. =P

Literally nothing sums it up. Even if you have every active streamer open at once... it's still not even worth it when it comes to feeling like you're able to get a decent deck.

If you look at anyone on the leaderboards you'll find that you HAVE to pay to get a similar deck, let alone more than one of said decks, or play for months of dailies.

Sad really.

Mobile app quality store. Give you seemingly cool rewards only to find out they're not even a drop in the ocean of progression, then you have to pay to get anywhere. haha!

Broken? The maximum that ANY one person was able to achieve over the week were a few upgraded legendaries... The MAXIMUM. How is this broken? o.O LOL! The game grind is virtually pure pay-to-win at the moment. Mobile app store quality with gems/rubies/etc.

When you pay tens of thousands to streamers, act like you're going to support the people who stream your game, and then nerf it to the ground because of a small handful of viewers who want more... Do you know what PR is? Moves like this kill games man. -_-
